Mother’s Day Breakfast at Maureen’s Kitchen (plus workout recap)

I hope you had a nice weekend and a Happy Mother’s Day!

I’m very happy to say that we went to Maureen’s Kitchen bright and early yesterday morning for our 12th annual Mother’s Day Breakfast.

It was so nice to have my favorite baked oatmeal once again!

After trying to take out breakfast last year during the pandemic and not being successful, this year was extra special. I’m so overly appreciative of the ability to dine out in restaurants now. What used to be a give-in, we have now learned not to take for granted.

In workout news, last week was a nice mix of walking, running, and Melissa Wood Health workouts. I’m hoping to run at least three days this week!

Monday – 3 Mile Walk

Tuesday – 22 Min Booty, Back, Legs/45 Min Walk

Wednesday – 30 Min Cardio Warm-Up + Full Body Flow/45 Min Walk

Thursday – 5 Mile Run

Friday – 5 Mile Run

Saturday – 22 Min Power Yoga/25 Min Full Body Flow

Sunday – 3 Miles Walk/20 Min Power Series

Time For Our Mother’s Day Breakfast Tradition! (plus fashion favorites from the week)

Oh, hi.

I didn’t mean to miss a few posts but the days got away from me and suddenly it’s the Friday ahead of Mother’s Day weekend.

heart

I saw the above heart pattern while walking the other morning which I assume formed naturally from the fallen petals during the rain overnight, and just couldn’t believe it. Pretty amazing, right?

Long-time readers know that my son and I have an early morning Mother’s Day breakfast tradition. Last year was the first time in ten years that we couldn’t go out for our traditional breakfast due to the pandemic (which was super disappointing).

Thankfully, we are back in action for this Sunday!

Although we haven’t firmly decided on where we will go (we rotate between Maureen’s Kitchen and Premier Diner), I know I have a bowl of baked oatmeal in my future!

baked oatmeal

I started our Mother’s Day Breakfast Tradition in 2010 simply on a whim, not realizing what I was creating for us. My son was always up so early that I randomly said, hey, let’s go out for an early breakfast to celebrate Mother’s Day. That random decision in 2010 is what started our yearly tradition which we both enjoy so very much. I will not think yet about next year when it’s very possible that my son is still away at college during Mother’s Day weekend. Nope, not thinking about it.

In case you are interested, here are the Mother’s Day Breakfast Tradition Recaps that I have on the blog.

I can’t wait to add another recap to this list next week!

In other news really quickly, I’m loving the Drunk Elephant Littles Hair and Body Kit. I highly recommend trying this set if you want to test out the products without spending money on the full-size items. The shampoo and conditioner are great, I love the detangling spray, and even the natural deodorant is good and actually works!

I love this heart pajama set – shorts with long sleeve tops are so my style.

I’m OBSESSED with this week’s new launch from Stoney Clover. The rainbow gingham pearl letters and rainbow gingham pearl icon patches are everything to me.

Oh, and the Beyond Yoga Space Dye Leggings with the matching cropped tank is most definitely my favorite set. If you asked me to choose between Beyond Yoga and lululemon Align pants, I would go with Beyond Yoga. This says a lot because I do love the Align pants. I just prefer Beyond Yoga I think — so much softer, really comfortable, good fit, and really flattering. The set looks SO CUTE when I wear it. (Although if I could find a petite size for the pants, that would be even better).

In lululemon We Made Too Much news, some Align pants are on sale. Now is the time to grab the Swiftly Tech Long Sleeve top on sale and put it away for next winter’s running season.

OHHH put this winter running jacket away for next winter too! Great price on sale.

Mother’s Day Breakfast Tradition Will Look Different This Year!

It’s that time of year again! Mother’s Day breakfast tradition time!

If you have been reading for a while, you know that my son and I have a very special Mother’s Day breakfast tradition. It’s a really big deal for us. Well, a really big deal for me. I’m not sure that my son cares as much as I do, I think he totes along for the food. That’s fine, one day he will appreciate the tradition. And me.

So the story goes like this. On Mother’s Day in 2010, when my son was 6 years old and up at the crack of dawn as most kids are at that age, I suggested we go out for breakfast in an effort to do something different for Mother’s Day. And there you have it – early morning Mother’s Day breakfast tradition established.

It’s now 2020 which means this will be our 11th annual Mother’s Day breakfast tradition. The only issue is, we can’t actually go out to eat this year. Who could have ever predicted this would be our current situation?

We have revised our breakfast plan and decided upon takeout from Premier Diner.

I didn’t start my blog until January 2013 which means I do not have pictures from the first three years of our breakfast tradition. However, I do have Mother’s Day breakfast recaps here on the blog since 2013! Let’s take a look at them today, okay?!

As you may recall, we bounce between two breakfast locations:

maureen's kitchen coffee

Sometimes I want to add a new Mother’s Day breakfast spot option to our choices but my son doesn’t allow it.

Who am I kidding though, it’s not like I am one for variety. As it is, either place we choose, I only choose between two breakfast items:

  • Baked Oatmeal
  • Whole wheat blueberry pancakes

It’s always a tough decision!

So let’s look back at my choices over the years since Mother’s Day 2013.

Mother’s Day Breakfast at Premier Diner  2013

I remember stopping for our Mother’s Day breakfast at Premier Diner before taking my son to Hebrew school. This was still three years before his Bar Mitzvah!

I’m sure it was a tough decision for me but I went with the whole wheat blueberry pancakes. YUM. These pancakes are always so delicious.

Baked oatmeal this time! I definitely tossed my options back and forth for two weeks before ultimately deciding what I would order for breakfast.

Mother’s Day Breakfast at Maureen’s Kitchen 2015

We made the decision to go to Maureen’s Kitchen for Mother’s Day this year for the first time in our breakfast tradition history. I remember we sat at the counter and watched them make all of the pancakes. I like doing things like that.

Maureen's Kitchen

I had the baked oatmeal. I’m still unsure who serves the better batch of baked oatmeal. I used to say Maureen’s Kitchen but Premier Diner’s baked oatmeal is so good. It’s really a tough call.

My son’s pancakes were so pretty.

Mother’s Day Breakfast at Maureen’s Kitchen 2016

If I recall correctly, I wanted to go to Premier Diner but my son chose Maureen’s Kitchen. Instead of baked oatmeal, I ordered the whole wheat blueberry pancakes. Premier Diner makes better whole wheat pancakes for sure. Don’t get me wrong. Maureen’s Kitchen is like one of the best places EVER for breakfast. But, the whole wheat blueberry pancakes, at least on this particular day, were not even close to as good as Premier Diner. I hate to really say it out loud (because Maureen’s is just so delicious for everything) but it was true.

Back to Maureen’s Kitchen! I should mention that we get to Maureen’s literally when they open at 7:00 AM, otherwise, you are going to wait if you arrive a minute later!

Maureen’s yet again! I’m fine with it although I did try to go to the diner. My son is big on selecting Maureen’s. He loves the whole experience.

His pancakes deserve the extra picture. How pretty!

Mother’s Day Breakfast at Premier Diner 2019

I was so happy when my son agreed on going back to Premier diner for our breakfast. I do love Maureen’s but I really enjoy the diner’s whole wheat blueberry walnut pancakes with the side of egg whites and bananas.

I’m really going to miss my unlimited mugs of coffee this Sunday on Mother’s Day. That’s one thing you can’t get with taking out! However, since we aren’t rushing to beat the crowd to sit down, I think we can leave a little later in the morning to pick up our breakfast. Now that my son is older, he sleeps much later and I have learned to not like to rush out the door so I do appreciate the extra time in the morning. I will definitely have a recap of breakfast to share next week!

A Few Recent Eats + Popular Recipe Right Now

No one wants to hear that I’m cold or that I despise getting up in the morning (I’ve concluded that I’m not a winter morning person) so I will skip right past my complaining (even though I totally just snuck it in here) and move on to a few recent meals.

I had this salad from Town Bagel a few days ago. Romaine, chick peas, roasted peppers, avocado, corn, and tomato. Honey mustard dressing on the side. Maybe there was cucumber in there too.

My salad from the Cheesecake Factory was a regular share on the blog for so long but now I feel like I don’t go there quite as often as in the past. Why not? I don’t know. We were there over the weekend though. Had my usual.

bbq ranch salad

Plus Linda’s Fudge Cake. Isn’t this slice of cake giant? I don’t think it has been this giant in a long time! Would you believe I took half home? I know, this is so not like me but it’s becoming me – I think mainly because I run so much less. My appetite is nowhere near as fierce and my stomach can only hold so much.

linda's fudge cake

On Monday my son was off from school but I work from home so that’s always fun. I took him to the diner as a super late breakfast for him and lunch for me. It was SO COLD here that I warmed up nicely with coffee and this giant bowl of baked oatmeal. The Premier Diner has the best baked oatmeal there is, no question. The baked oatmeal is served with a side of warm milk which you pour on top of the oatmeal to really mush it all up. What’s in the baked oatmeal? Not 100% sure but it definitely has raisins, craisins, I think I noticed walnuts, maybe apples or pears? It’s all cooked in so it’s hard to tell and I’m pretty sure that it’s slightly different every time.

So. I’m definitely not as active on Pinterest anymore (who has time?) but my old pins are still circulating nicely. Like right now, my recipe for peanut butter and banana protein bites seems to be crazy popular (based on the clicks to my site) which makes me happy. It’s nice to know that the cooking and recipe creating I once did is still appreciated!

Mother’s Day Breakfast at Maureen’s Kitchen (Plus Recent Eats)

Another Mother’s Day breakfast tradition in the books!

You may have already seen a sneak peek of our breakfast at Maureen’s Kitchen yesterday on Instagram.

Maureen's Kitchen coffee

My son chose Maureen’s Kitchen for the third year in a row. We have learned that you must get there when they open to avoid the lines. So at 7:00 am, we were there! I honestly wasn’t going to wake my son so early this year but he got up and ready on his own.

maureen's kitchen menu

I went with the baked oatmeal this year and I must say, it was the best bowl of baked oatmeal I think I have ever had.

One year the waitress at Maureen’s Kitchen suggested fresh blueberries on the side to go with the baked oatmeal so I ordered it that way again.

I would love to know how they make their baked oatmeal although I would never come close to replicating it. It is served with a side of warmed milk. It is truly out of this world!

My son even let me take a picture of his breakfast.

His order included eggs, bacon, sausage and his choice of pancakes. He chose Oreo pancakes.

Other Recent Eats!

I made a special trip to Panera one day to work and have lunch. I don’t get there as often as I once did but I still like to work from there when I can.

When you give me a gift card to The Cheesecake Factory, I will use it immediately even if I was just there a few days prior.

I had a great Red Mango parfait on Saturday which I enjoyed while walking the mall. In case you didn’t know the toppings in my parfait, it’s always original yogurt with strawberries, blueberries, pumpkin flax granola and dark chocolate chips.

We finally tried the new Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza that opened near my house.

There are a bazillion great pizza places near me but Anthony’s is a little bit different since it’s coal-fired cooked and you can’t order by the slice as it’s served by the pie.

I ordered the house salad to start. Salads are also served family style – this is the small.

salad at Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza

We chose two pizzas but honestly, if we all could have agreed on toppings, one large pie would have been enough. I chose a small basic pizza with mushrooms and we also ordered a large meatball and ricotta pie.

Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza

So I liked Anthony’s but I prefer our traditional New York pizzas by the slice. Would I go again? Sure. I think it’s a little bit pricey for what it is but on occasion, it’s a good place. The bar area is nice too with good-sized televisions for watching hockey games so that’s a plus in my book.

Major Flashback Post: A few years ago we had dinner at Salvatore’s which is the best brick oven pizza in my opinion here on Long Island. I need to get back there soon!

Mother’s Day Breakfast Tradition

Mother’s Day is Sunday and it has basically become my favorite day of the year.

In case you didn’t already know from previous years here on the blog, my son and I have a very special Mother’s Day breakfast tradition.

We started our early morning breakfast tradition back in 2010 which was the first Mother’s Day after my divorce. Well, technically it was after the divorce process started and we moved out of the house to where we still live now.

This will be our 8th year in a row for our Mother’s Day breakfast tradition and I can’t even believe it! When we first started celebrating Mother’s Day like this, my son was only six years old! How weird does that sound now?!

When he was little, he used to wake up so early that I figured, Hey! Let’s beat everyone to the Premier Diner on Mother’s Day and do something special for breakfast since we are up at the crack of dawn anyway!

breakfast at the diner

Our Mother’s Day breakfast tradition has become something we talk about all year. The last few years have been a mix between the Premier Diner and Maureen’s Kitchen. We have yet to decide where we will go this Sunday morning.

Will we try something new? Will we go to the diner? Maureen’s Kitchen? What are we having? Will I have baked oatmeal? Pancakes? Something totally different?

Maureen's Kitchen Pancakes

Are we waking up early to be there at 7:00 am or should we aim for more of a brunch this year?

It’s a big dilemma now that my son is a teenager and actually sleeps late. Why would I want to wake him? Who subjects themselves to a teenager so early in the morning by choice?

But why would we want to wait in line for our special breakfast tradition once it’s super crowded?

Of course I will share all of the details from our Mother’s Day breakfast tradition on Monday. I always do! In fact, one of the best parts about having this blog is that I have all of these fun moments documented.

Previous Mother’s Day’s Posts:

The Dunkin Donuts people need to ask me my hockey team preference before pouring my coffee. This is serious business around here and I am starting to get real annoyed.

The best baked oatmeal is definitely served at the Premier Diner. I love a good brunch.

These crispy rice tuna things are always my favorite appetizer when I go out for sushi. They are not available on every sushi restaurant menu but Aiko has them which gets us excited.

Dinner at Market Bistro was delicious although as I said in yesterday’s workout recap, I paid the price during my long run Saturday morning. I am not going to complain though because I will take a great dinner out over a good long run any day. Maybe that makes me a minority in the running community but my social life matters a whole lot more to me than how I perform during a run.

I don’t even know what flavor ice cream was served with the cute chocolate cake but it was really good.

I happily stopped by a bridal event at Neiman Marcus (for work-related reasons) over the weekend and was really happy to see the cupcake display. All events are that much better with a cupcake display, don’t you think?

Let’s discuss eating at home vs. dining out for a minute.

Of course it’s important to cook and eat meals at home. It’s usually less expensive and sometimes healthier because you are in control of the ingredients. However, it’s really important to get out of the kitchen sometimes. In fact, it’s important to get out of the kitchen often, on a regular basis, if you want my personal opinion.

There’s only so much cooking a person can do without losing their mind and/or interest in what they are constantly creating in the kitchen on a routine basis.

Even worse, way too many people avoid dining out in fear of not being in charge of preparing the food themselves which I feel is a sad way to live.

Dining out is a social experience as well as a chance to enjoy the foods you often can’t/won’t cook at home.

It’s extremely tiring and self-limiting to constantly care about calorie counts and/or what’s in the food on your plate.

There are ways to order “healthy” while dining out and there’s also room in everyone’s diet to just enjoy themselves without thinking about it.

I understand it is not easy for everyone to do this. I also understand that it’s hard to break the habit of counting calories all of the time but hopefully I can somehow help with that. Calorie counts will never come up on my blog and I will do my best to show you that it’s more than okay to eat cake and go out to eat often while still balancing it all out with running and the “healthy” stuff.

I needed to restock the kitchen a bit over the weekend before my son arrived home from camp. Since he always complains about Trader Joe’s cereals (and really, Trader Joe’s anything), I did my best to get some non-Trader Joe’s snacks and cereals that would hopefully meet my son’s requirements.

snacks and cereals

I thought he would love the Eggo Chocolate Chip Pancake Bites especially since they come in pouches (the ingredients list wasn’t even too horrendous).

The truth is, we parents need to figure out the balance between raising our kids to understand the importance of healthy, nutritious meals while giving them the okay to eat the snacks and treats they desire.

Some snacks and cereals are better choices than others but the reality is, if we don’t let our kids have some of the processed stuff, they will find it elsewhere, craving it and seeking it out more than if we just allow it. We all ate the “junk” growing up and survived.

I had friends whose parents were so insanely strict with food that when they got away from their parents, these kids ate everything “off-limits” that they could get their hands on.

As my son gets older, it’s just not possible for me to expect him to take homemade granola bars to school or to eat only the foods I suggest. I may not like his food choices all of the time but I gotta let him live. One day he will get it.

I did pick up a box of these new Trader Joe’s Raises the Bar Chewy Granola Bars though, have you tried them yet?

They are made with oats, millet, quinoa, amaranth and buckwheat. I can’t say I liked the one I tried though and the dark chocolate chunks were extremely sparse. Like maybe 3 little chunks of dark chocolate in one bar.

I may return the box to the store.

Trader Joe's Raises The Bar

My really good friend Lisa and I kept trying to make a lunch plan or dinner plan for the last two months which is just ridiculous. When our boys were babies, we spent every single day together walking the malls and raising our kids together. We were our own mommy and me and now life keeps getting in the way.

We finally made a plan for an early brunch at our favorite Premier Diner which was just perfect. We couldn’t decide between the baked oatmeal or the yogurt parfait so we ordered both and shared it. Genius idea.

Lisa and I have the exact same palette for food which was one of the reasons we were instant BFFs when we met back when our boys were only five months old.

Premiere Diner baked oatmeal and yogurt parfait

I spent Saturday at my aunt’s beach house again which is my favorite place to be in the summer ever since I am a little girl.

I was so excited to see that she had made her famous corn flake crumb chicken (and used the breading on veal this time too) so even though I no longer eat meat and didn’t get a picture of what I ate, I made sure to get the picture of the corn flake crumbs!

Remember, I just mentioned her famous breading in my recipe challenge post on Friday.

My aunt is the best cook ever. Not pictured is a really easy and delicious skillet corn dish that she told me how to make so I am going to hopefully give it a try this week and report back!

cornflake crumbs and lunch selection

Even by the beach, it was crazy hot outside due to the heat wave but by later in the afternoon, it was comfortable in the backyard because there was a nice breeze.

You know you have reached old age when you just look at the pool you used to swim in as a kid rather than actually go in to get wet.

This is how I eat cake by the way. I carve out the chocolate filling and leave the cake parts.

And my son is home! I am pretty sure that seeing the parade of buses pull up yesterday from the sleep away camps was the happiest moment in my life.

Seriously. I don’t think I have ever been more excited or happier in my life.

buses from camp

And because I know my bunny so well, Chopt was his first meal home request but first we stopped home so he could see his room all redone (and I forced him into the shower immediately. Like I turned the shower water on and said get yourself in there and don’t come out for at least ten minutes).

Chopt salads

He has not stopped talking about all of his experiences this summer at sleep away camp. Although he for sure missed being home, I can see that sending him to this camp was the best decision ever and he agreed, even thanking me for the experience.

We went over to see my parents for dinner, picking up pizza because pizza was the next request after Chopt. I don’t blame him, I would miss New York pizza too. Even though camp was in upstate New York, their pizza isn’t the same.

pizza

You know how I really know sleep away camp was the best decision? Rather than play around with his cell phone as soon as he was home, my son requested a deck of cards so that we could play all of the card games he learned while at camp.

Being unplugged is probably the greatest part about sleep away camp today. Kids today need a chance to interact without technology and do the things we kids did for years before cell phones and social media existed. 🙂

We have three weeks until school starts!

WIAW – Pre-Race Meals

Although I eat a fairly high in complex carbohydrate diet on a daily basis, I still make adjustments to what I eat in preparation for races.

Let’s take a look at what I ate last Friday, the day before I ran the Aspire 10k race. Even though I handle fiber extremely well and can totally run on veggies, I wanted to skip eating vegetables completely before the race because I do think that I run better (and feel lighter) without them.

Breakfast:

I had my usual pre and post run bowls of oatmeal (only pre-run bowl is pictured today) with a few cups of my new favorite coffee. The Stew Leonard’s Donut Shop Blend is so good! It’s noticeably better than the Trader Joe’s K Cups I had been drinking every morning.

oatmeal and coffee

My post-run bowl of oatmeal looked the same as the above only it had banana, Skoop B-Strong and egg whites mixed in 🙂

Lunch:

My initial plan for lunch was to have an open-faced sandwich on toasted cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread with one half peanut butter and banana and the other half eggs with avocado but then I found myself out for an early lunch before picking up my number for the race.

I like to be flexible about what I eat so even though this change in lunch plans fell on a day that I was trying to eat certain foods before the race, I knew I could still eat something perfect to fill my lunch needs.

I switched my lunch mindset from the above plan to the below bowl of baked oatmeal (which is served with warmed milk – it’s so cute). Maureen’s Kitchen has THE BEST baked oatmeal there is, even better than the baked oatmeal from the Premiere Diner.

Maureen's Kitchen Baked Oatmeal

There’s a part of me that wants to figure out how to make this baked oatmeal at home and the other part of me knows there is no way I would come close to replicating it! It’s like a big bowl of mashed up muffin, total carby goodness.

Previous posts at Maureen’s Kitchen here and here.

Dinner:

All I could think about for dinner was a big plate of sweet potato wedges with avocado. I sliced and roasted a large sweet potato plus a regular potato and topped the wedges with some barbecue sauce and mashed avocado. So so good.

roasted potatoes

It’s not pretty but it’s certainly delicious. I could eat this for dinner every night and not grow tired of it.

Dessert:

We suddenly started eating Vitalicious VitaTops again. I bought a random package of the double chocolate muffin tops on sale recently and since my son has been enjoying them so much, we placed an order from the website and split it with my parents. I know I can make my own version of these muffin tops but sometimes I just don’t feel like it!

Lately I warm up a muffin top and then top it with sliced bananas, strawberries and Midnight Moo (the chocolate syrup from Trader Joe’s).

Vitamuffin Dessert

How I felt during the race:

As you know from my recap, I felt great even though it was pouring raining on me. My stomach may have felt a little lighter from the lack of vegetables although who really knows for sure. As I said, I can run just fine on fiber but I do think it’s worth it to me to skip eating vegetables in the day or days leading up to a race.

What I will do differently for the half marathon…

A half marathon is much more serious for me in terms of what I eat in advance especially for the upcoming half in May which usually involves warmer temperatures.

In addition to being carb-focused, I will probably add:

Salt. More salt will be added to my diet in the days leading up to the race, especially if it’s hot out by then!

Tomato soup. I did really well running the Runner’s World Hat Trick of races when I had tomato soup with a sandwich as dinner both nights before the races. It’s possible that my pre-race dinner will be a nice big plate of roasted potato wedges with a side of tomato soup.

Watermelon. I meant to eat watermelon last Friday but ran out of it in the house and did not have time to get to the store. Watermelon makes a huge difference in my hydration levels and how I feel overall.

Pizza. I usually have pizza two nights before the race or the night before – I think it will all depend on our weekend plans.

Lots of water. Because waiting to hydrate the day of the race is too late!

Less vegetables. By the Wednesday before the half, I will probably cut down my vegetable intake significantly and then down to none.

Bananas, Sweet Potatoes and Oatmeal. You know, just more of the usual.

I am seriously contemplating ordering a different flavor every time I go which is not easy for me. Should I do it, as an ice cream experiment for us?

Once you start quenching your thirst with watermelon, nothing else, not even water, will do the job quite as well which means you must keep your refrigerator stocked at all times with several containers of the red stuff.

My son and I realized during our early morning drive to Maureen’s Kitchen (we were there by 7:00 am!) that this was our 5th annual early morning Mother’s Day breakfast (in yesterday’s post I had thought it was only our 4th).

When I started our breakfast tradition a few years ago, it worked really well for us since my son used to wake up at the crack of dawn. Now that he is eleven (when did that happen?!) it isn’t as easy for him to get up so super early BUT if you want to beat the Maureen’s Kitchen breakfast crowd, arriving at 7:00 am is the only way to do things.

We had our choice of seating (but only ten minutes later there was a wait out the door!) so we decided to sit at the counter, as usual, so that we could watch the griddle in action.

My son really knows how to order a nice mix of sweet and savory…

pancakes

Look at those chocolate chip pancakes topped with strawberries and bananas!

I briefly thought about ordering pancakes myself but I just couldn’t go without the baked oatmeal.

They give you a side of warm milk to pour on top so that you can mush things up all nice. I also ordered a side of blueberries to add to the bowl because I am smart like that.

There is something about early morning coffee in a cow-themed mug that makes me smile.

We headed over to my parents’ house (which used to be my house but somewhere along the lines of becoming an adult I switched to referring it to my parents’ house and now I am realizing I must have grown up a lot in order to make that term adjustment) in the early afternoon.

We brought my mom pink peonies because we know she really likes them.

I was in charge of bringing dessert. Okay so actually, I put myself in charge of dessert because if I didn’t, we run the risk of it being wrong and I can’t have a wrong dessert, especially on Mother’s Day.

Wondering what the “right” dessert was for Mother’s Day?

I struggled to decide what I wanted (I am openly admitting to the world wide web that I didn’t really think about anyone but myself) so I went with an assortment of everything that looked appealing to me.

And while I am confessing, I should probably let the world know that while waiting for dinner, I broke into the bakery box, stole some frosting off each cupcake, took a row off of the fudge brownie but did it all super neatly so that no one would never know the difference.

It was Mother’s Day, I am a mother, it was my day <– rationalizing my lack of care for others when it comes to a bakery box in my presence.
