Is it just me or did something recently change with Instagram? It stopped giving me the most recent posts in my feed and instead shows me random posts from random times. I do not like it at all which must explain why I stopped scrolling through my feed.
Don’t think I didn’t notice that the sun is rising later and later with each day that passes. It’s not that I don’t wake up anyway, because I do, it’s the whole waiting to run until it’s light enough that gets me. I don’t run in the dark. Treadmill mornings are approaching aren’t they, this summer is going way too fast.
In happier news, I love my new pair of Energy Boosts. I ran in them both Monday and Tuesday morning and then went back to my usual running shoe rotation plan yesterday which means I get to wear my Boosts again today for my 8 mile run.
There’s nothing like running in a fresh pair of your favorite running shoes!
I realized that I have a free pass for a SoulCycle class waiting to be used. They gave me the free pass back in June when I took my first SoulCycle class. I can’t decide when I want to use it. Maybe one morning next week before my son is back from camp.
Speaking of my son, I spoke to him Tuesday night on the phone. He asked what was going on at home and the only thing I could come up with was telling him that I am still finding chia seeds in the kitchen from when I dropped the chia seeds bag on the pantry floor. At least he knows he is missing nothing important, you know?
Aside from still vacuuming chia seeds in my kitchen (seriously, I am) I have been busy cleaning and organizing drawers, cabinets and closets. I am on a mission to do one a day before my son gets home so that I feel refreshed and ready to go for the school year.
Have I ever told you about the ball bin I have in my laundry closet?
It used to be just the bin I used to store cleaning supplies but then it slowly became the place I stash the balls that get confiscated when my son is caught throwing or bouncing a ball in the house.
This process started years ago. I would grab the annoying ball and tuck it away in this laundry closet bin on a high shelf so that my son couldn’t find it. I now discovered, under all of the cleaning paraphernalia, the ball collection has grown in a ridiculous way.
Please don’t tell my son where all of the balls have been hidden. I really don’t think he knows about this. As a side note, what’s with the random Brittany Spears CD? I don’t know how it ended up in this bin.
Thankfully I get to view photos online each day of my son happily bouncing balls somewhere other than here. I love that he is wearing a sweatshirt. My favorite summer camp days were the days that were cool enough to wear a sweatshirt with shorts to camp!
I tried a new nail salon yesterday. Nail salons are a dime a dozen in my area but a really good one is a gem of a find.
I think I liked this place. Not only was the manicure and pedicure EXCELLENT, they had tons of colors to choose from and the bottles were all new.
Oh, and they offered lollipops. You gotta stand out in this area if you are going to become the go-to referred by everyone nail salon and little things like lollipops will make you a little bit more memorable.
Totally random questions:
Did you happen to catch The Hills marathon the other night on MTV?
School supplies: Were you the type who liked individual binders, one for each subject, or were you the kid who bought one giant binder to hold all of your subjects?
Have you ever forgotten you had a half eaten gel from your run in your pocket only to find it after you washed your running clothes? Yes, this happened to me this week.
Don’t forget to check out what everyone else is thinking about today. 🙂

I don’t like the instagram changes either. And I think they just added something else called stories which I don’t understand yet.
I am always finding empty or half used gels in the laundry. Usually they are Rob’s though- I’m pretty good about throwing them out.
That nail salon looks great! I wish we knew about it when i was there!
you would like this nail salon, next time you come we can go! it’s really nice and big. it looks more like a spa.
Yeah, the new IG algorithm that they have been threatening us with finally rolled out. So now it is kind of like your FB feed in that it shows you posts you might have missed from friends etc and then does chronologic stuff. So basically, if you haven’t liked something from someone you are following, it won’t show it to you. It’s super annoying.
Totally sad to have missed The Hills. I hope it is on On Demand!
I hate what they did to Instagram!
In NJ there is a nail salon every 200 feet, so I feel you! I had the perfect one near my old house but haven’t taken the time to find a new one near me. #firstworldproblems, amirite?
Also, my son is 2 and I already have a small stash like your ball collection. God help me with 2 boys.
it literally is like every 200 feet! boys love to throw a ball, it’s so funny.
I didn’t notice the Instagram change! The ball basket is HILARIOUS and the CD looks like it hasn’t even been opened yet! I think it’s time to break that open and have a dance party in the kitchen! Ha ha… But anyway, you inspired me to start organizing and cleaning too because all of a sudden it will be September, back to school, and I’ll feel like a deer in headlights.
I don’t think I opened that cd, how funny! I can’t even believe how fast it will be school time, I am not ready for the routine of it all! I feel like organizing every drawer and throwing stuff out will make it somehow easier lol
I recorded the hills reunion show last night so that’s my plan for when I get home tonight. I love how cheap the nail salons are here compared to Baltimore. I need a manicure. August has been an expensive month for me though so I’m trying to restrain myself… And a free SoulCycle class? I need one of those!
yeah nail salons here really are cheap and the price has basically been the same since I am a kid. It’s the one thing that never changes in price probably because they need to stay competitive.
The Instagram algorithm, I think, is supposed to show the photos that you like the most? I don’t know, but I don’t really like it. I really liked the chronological way of operation.
I love how you have the ball bin in your closet. That way a game of something fun with friends is never far away.
And wearing sweatshirts at camp is one of my favorite things to do. It’s rarely cold enough in the summer here to wear my Alaska sweatshirt.
I love cooler summer days. It’s not too hot here today so it’s really nice
I’ve accidentally washed empty gel packets but never partially full ones. Back to school supplies used to make me so excited! Even in grad school I had separate notebooks for each class.
luckily I had this one in a small Ziploc bag in my pocket so it didn’t make a mess…I love school supplies too!
I can’t stand what they did to IG. And now they added something new which is SO similar to Snapchat, it pisses me off. I feel like social media is constantly coming up with something new and it’s impossible to keep up. Like… why can’t they just leave all the algorithms alone?!
100% not a fan of the IG algorithm. It’s like Facebook, but you don’t even have the option to view your feed in chronological order. And in elementary school I think I wanted the BIGGEST possible binder to put everything in… but then I got hyper organized and now want everything in its own special place.
I despise the IG change. I want my feed back in normal order. It makes me crazy when I open it to see a post from 18 hours ago. Bastards. Also the stories now….I can’t even.
Your ball drawer or ball box is safe with me. 🙂
I doubt I can adjust to this new Instagram change! I am already finding that I don’t touch the app on my phone at all
I think the change of IG will soon be changed again if they see that users don’t like it. They built a social network and if users don’t like anything of it then they have to change to meet user’s demand. And I think your cute son is old enough to not throw balls in the house, so maybe you don’t need to hide them from him anymore.
