Workout Updates: Joining The Gym? + lululemon Finds

I have some workout updates for today!

Last Week’s Workouts

Last week was the second (or third?) week in a row that I didn’t write my daily workouts down to share them in detail on the blog. It definitely feels weird but nice at the same time! Sometimes we just need a change to routine, you know?

It was a fairly typical week for me:

  • 4 runs – 1 treadmill, 1 beach, 2 around the neighborhood
  • A few walks plus Melissa Wood Health yoga/pilates flows

Saturday’s run at the beach was gorgeous but HOT. I kept checking in with myself to ensure I wasn’t overheating and used the water fountains on the boardwalk at random times throughout my run.

When I hit 6.5 miles, I suddenly knew it was time to stop. I really think I was sweating more than ever in my life! While it’s hard to know if that’s true, there was something about Saturday that just had me drenched in sweat.

I had a ton of water, cooled down, and then enjoyed my favorite weekend post-summer run food. This time I had a whole wheat bagel instead of a bialy with vegetable cream cheese and tomato. I’m telling you – this is the best post-run combo for me.

What I bought at Lululemon

I mentioned last week that I was thinking to get a few things from lululemon. Here’s what I ordered!

Energy Longline Bra in Sonic Pink

Align Hip Length Racerback Tank in Sonic Pink

Base Pace High Rise Tight in Black

Another pack of Power Stride Ankle Socks in the fun neon colors.

Joining The Gym Again?!

Recently I started thinking about possibly maybe considering joining the gym again. It’s been years since I had a gym membership! The last time I belonged to the gym was during the time period when I started my blog in 2013! I was a Lifetime member, loved going to spin, and brought my son with me to the kids club.

I stopped my gym membership in late 2013, went to Pure Barre classes sporadically in 2014, and then stopped any type of gym/fitness studio in favor of just running outside, doing online workouts, and using the gym in my community for the treadmill.

I’ve been feeling like maybe I need to switch things up for fall. Maybe I’m in the mood for a spin class, maybe I’m in the mood for other classes.

It’s all a big switch to consider given that I’m so used to my routine right outside my front door or in my living room. I’m so routine and on my own morning schedule that opening things up to class options with set times and figuring out what time to go to the gym during the week to get home in time to work is a new and weird feeling for me.

However, I think I should do it. I have the time – my son does not need me anymore in the morning and I can be more flexible with my work start time if I need it.

I’ve been considering Lifetime or Equinox for a few weeks. My son loves being a member at Equinox and I really liked their class time offerings. Between spin, barre, pilates, and a run class, I feel like there’s so much for me to choose from without being an overwhelming schedule of choices. Lifetime’s class schedule was more overwhelming and the times weren’t great.

I did a trial day at Equinox yesterday! I couldn’t decide if I should take Spin or Barefoot Sculpt but ultimately went with Barefoot Sculpt. I loved it so much — it was a nice blend of pilates and barre and OMG – I knew instantly I would be sore.

There’s definitely a difference between in-person classes vs online. And while I will not give up my Melissa Wood Health workouts, I think I may like a blend of going to the gym and doing some at-home workouts.

We will see!
