If you have been reading my blog for a while, you’ve probably realized that I never talk about having goals or reaching for a goal. I am not the goal setting type. Definitely not my style.
And correct me if I am wrong, but I think that goal setting people are the likely the types of people who have a bucket list too. Am I right? Because I don’t set goals or create bucket lists of things I want or need to do. I don’t often create any types of lists actually, even though I’m super organized.
But! Recently, I decided it was time to put having afternoon tea at The Plaza on my non-list list. How could it be that I had never had afternoon tea at The Plaza in my 41 years of life?
I’ve been to The Plaza plenty and have stayed there as well, but never experienced the tea.
So, with my favorite work gang, I was grateful when our New York catch up and chit chat lunch (we do this type of lunch thing when my boss is in town) became scheduled as an afternoon tea at The Plaza. They knew of my desire to experience The Plaza tea and since it was my birthday earlier this month, it was a special reason to plan it – I know, I work with the best people. 🙂
We work so closely with the Plaza that it was just perfect that my first time having tea at the hotel was with my work family!
That’s me wearing my new Ted Baker shirt dress which I told you about recently as I stare up at the big chandelier. Similar shoes here.
Wanting to be like Eloise, you know?
Fun fact: I drink a lot of tea. I’m a Yogi tea fan but decaf tea only. I get dizzy from caffeinated tea.
I wanted to bring home the decaf tea I had at The Plaza! It was so incredible.
We were a party of five and each got to select our own tea variety which was served in personal teapots. I picked the most delicious, fruity tea. I wish I could tell you the exact name of it, but I can’t. Here is the Afternoon Tea menu though if you want to take a look!
We were so busy chatting that we missed a group photo (totally my fault, it’s my job to get those pictures) but we did manage a group teacup picture.
We ordered a vegetarian version for one of our sandwich selections plus a New Yorker Tea menu selection which I believe included some fish and meat options in the sandwiches. Both varieties include the pastries and scones.
I did not do a good job of individual food photos but everything was terrific, especially the scones. The scones are served with Devonshire cream, mango and passion fruit curd, and house-made preserves which are so elegantly placed on the table before you sit down.
I topped a raisin scone with the preserves and had several of the vegetarian sandwiches. Plus a bunch of the pastries. So delicious.
If you are interested, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite work-related events that have included excellent food:
Launch of Edwardian Room at The Plaza
New York Luncheon at the Conrad
New York Luncheon at Second Floor
And my most favorite dessert displays at our Red Carpet event back in 2016!
