Another week of really enjoyable summer workouts. Still hot, still humid, oh, and a Tropical Storm in the mix too. Thankfully, like seriously beyond thankfully, I did not lose power during/after the storm. I was one of the few on Long Island to not have a power issue. I’m grateful every time we have a storm as my neighborhood tends to withstand the high winds really well.
Before getting to my workouts, I wanted to circle back to sweat-wicking underwear. I recently mentioned how important I think the right underwear is for workouts. In addition to the lululemon underwear, I am now wearing the GAP Breathe underwear and I’m obsessed. Each pair is super soft and comfortable, and most importantly, sweat-wicking. I love the styles so much that I am also wearing them when I don’t exercise. I recommend each style they have — the price point makes this extra exciting.

Monday – 5 Miles
I ran today instead of tomorrow because I saw the tropical storm would be here in the morning. Thinking I would only run 3 miles, I ended up outside for 5. Here’s what I did:
- 1-mile warm-up
- 2 miles .25 hard/.25 easy
- 2 miles .20 hard/.10 easy
Intervals make time fly and definitely help build speed.
Tuesday – 45 Min Pure Barre
Wednesday – 5 Miles
- 2 miles – easy
- 2 miles – with effort
- 1 mile – .25 easy/.25 hard/.25 easy/.25 hard
Thursday – 3 Miles
A quick 3 miles like this:
- Mile 1: easy
- Mile 2: .25 hard/.25 easy/.50 hard
- Mile 3: .25 easy/.75 hard
Friday – 45 Min Pure Barre
In today’s Friday’s Favorites post, I mentioned that it’s my 6 year Pure Barre anniversary this summer!
Saturday – 8 Miles
It was an overcast morning but not raining so I still went for my run at the boardwalk. Although I do like a sunny beach day run, the runner in me knows that the overcast sky is much better for the duration of a run. It was slightly cooler than its been but once running, I felt the humidity for sure.
It was nice to not have the bright sun beating down on me. I wore my visor but kept my sunglasses off and in my bag in case I needed them – which I didn’t.
All week I was planning this weekend’s boardwalk run to be a fast finish style workout. I wanted to focus on running easy and then pick up the pace. Also, I was also due for my period today so pushing myself too hard was not a good idea which also made this type of workout great for my time of the month. I figured if I didn’t feel well enough to pick up the pace after the easy miles, I wouldn’t.
Anyway, it workout out really well. I started out over 9 and the hovered right at 9 for the first 5 miles (which totally flew by so quickly!). Then I picked up the effort for two miles in the 8’s before cooling down for one mile. It’s funny how easy it has been for me to bump up my weekend run distance again. Will I ever run 13 miles like I used to? I doubt it but I kinda see a 10-mile run happening. Maybe next weekend.

Sunday – 30 Min SOL Yoga/Walk
I really love this Yoga class. It’s not like I can stand on my head or anything (like won’t even try), but I’m getting really flexible.
Don’t forget about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I will remind you in every post. 🙂
