Six Tip Tuesday?

The boy stayed  home sick from school yesterday.

Nothing major, just a sore throat and perhaps a cold brewing.

price is right

He planned his television show schedule and video games around 11:00 am so he could watch the Price is Right.

He sat there the entire time shouting “HIGHER!” and “LOWER!” and yelling at the contestants.

He may make fun of my couponing and bargain hunting, but it is clear I am making an impression on him.

Anyway, it’s Three Tip Tuesday Time!

Would anyone object to six tips today instead of just three?

I know I don’t often speak about divorce on my blog, but  I do have plenty to say about it.

About the Children, LLC  welcomed me to their blog and gave me the opportunity to offer their readers  three tips on handling divorce emotions around the children.

Who knew I would ever become an expert in anything other than dessert?

As for the rest of today’s tips, recently, the very kind people at Food For Life sent me coupons to try out their delicious products.

I LOVE EZEKIEL BREAD.

In addition to amazing taste, I love Food For Life products for a variety of other reasons.

A little bit of info about the Food For Life Company (as described on their website):

From our pastas and breads, to our cereals, tortillas and english muffins we literally strive to bring you the very best food for your life.

  • Our diet-specific products are certified by 3rd parties for peace of mind.
  • The majority of ingredients in our products are certified organic.
  • We use sprouted grains in the majority of our products .
  • Our products are certified kosher.
  • We don’t’ use any genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
  • We don’t use anything artificial – no preservatives, shortenings or refined sugars.
  • We use a unique slow-bake process to preserve the natural fiber and bran benefits of grains.

I love that their products are free from preservatives and have a short and desirable list of ingredients.

Because Ezekiel breads are free of preservatives, they tend to spoil sooner than other products.

No biggie- just store the bread in your fridge or freezer.

I am not a big sandwich eater nor do I eat bread on a daily basis.

I do however always have a loaf of cinnamon raisin Ezekiel Bread in my freezer as well as a loaf of bread in the fridge for my son for school lunches.

Ezekiel breads hold up so well, defrost immediately and never get soggy – even if you prepare a sandwich in advance to take with you to school or work.

I bought three different types of Food For Life products to review for  you today: Image

1.  Cinnamon Raisin English Muffins:

023

While the Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel bread is a staple in my freezer, I ALWAYS wanted to buy the english muffins and this gave me the perfect opportunity to do so!

Is there anything better than peanut butter on a toasted english muffin? I think not.

Image

These english muffins are dense, chewy and satisfying. They have the right ratio of cinnamon to raisin just like the loaf of bread.

Probably the best cinnamon raisin breads/muffins I have ever tasted.

Image

I even enjoyed a cinnamon raisin english muffin with tomato, spinach and  melted lite Muenster cheese one day for lunch.

I like using sweet breads such as the cinnamon raisin and combining  with savory foods such as cheese and salads.

Satisfies my taste for both the sweet and savory eliminating my indecisiveness at meal time.

Only issue with the muffins – if you count calories, these muffins are 160 calories for the ENTIRE muffin.

The serving size on the package lists it as 80 calories for HALF of the muffin.

They may have more calories than the standard whole grain english muffin, but remember, sometimes it is the quality of your food, not the quantity of calories.

Ingredients –Organic Sprouted Wheat, Organic Raisins, Organic Sprouted Barley, Organic Sprouted Millet, Organic Malted Barley, Organic Sprouted Lentils, Organic Sprouted Soybeans, Organic Sprouted Spelt, Filtered Water, Fresh Yeast, Organic Wheat Gluten, Sea Salt, Cinnamon.

2. Sprouted Corn Tortillas Image

I was very excited to try these out.

For dinner one night, I made a quick mix of chicken, black beans and corn similar to how I made our Stuffed Potatoes and placed the mixture on top of one of the corn tortillas. Image

I crumbled lite cheddar cheese, added another tortilla on top and baked in oven at 350 degrees for a few minutes.

013

Voila. My version of a quesadilla.

The first comment from the boy was regarding how crispy the tortillas were.

They held up amazing, tasted delicious and the best part:

Ingredients: Organic Sprouted Corn, Filtered Water, Sea Salt, Lime.

That’s it folks. Four ingredients, if you can even count water as an ingredient.

I dare you to check the ingredients lists on the other brands of tortillas. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I would have cut the quesadillas into quarters but he didn’t give me the chance.

On another afternoon, I had what I thought was a unique and genius idea.

Homemade Healthy Tortilla Chips:

011

Simply place the tortillas on a baking sheet or aluminum foil.

Either spray with Pam and/or sprinkle with any seasoning you wish and bake at 400 degrees for not even 5 minutes.

Honestly, I think you can pop the tortillas in the oven for a few minutes with nothing on them as well. All we are looking to do is crisp them.

008

When they cool, break into chips.

Boom. Tortilla Chips.

010

I thought I was a unique food genius until I saw Food For Life mention making chips on their facebook page last week.

3. Bread – 7 Sprouted Grains-

025

I am sure I do not need to tell you what you can do with bread.

However, I can tell you that Ezekiel breads are all delicious, dense, hearty and live up to, if not succeed, any bread expectations you may have.

I wonder if the boy knows bread comes in any color other than brown?

If you have never tried Food For Life products, I insist you go to the store and buy a loaf, a package of muffins or tortillas.

I won’t lie- Food For Life products tend to cost a bit more than the conventional bread products. Like I often say, “How much is your health worth?”

I don’t mind paying a little bit more for my food staples knowing that what I am eating and feeding my son is made well, tastes delicious and is free of hard to pronounce ingredients.

Food For Life products include a wide variety of breads, buns, cereals, tortillas, waffles, pastas, vegan meats, pocket breads and croutons. They cater to various dietary needs including diabetic friendly products, gluten free, high fiber, sprouted grains, vegan and yeast free.

I want to try the waffles and cereals next!

I need to know:

Are a sandwich eater? What is your favorite bread?

Have you ever tried Ezekiel breads?

**Food For Life sent me free product coupons and did not compensate me further for the writing of this review…All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.
