I had every intention of unplugging myself from the virtual world for the entire weekend but I wanted to pop in and say hello.
Hello!
Ok, really, I had a few things to say that just couldn’t wait.
First, my long run yesterday morning was simply fabulous.
No, I did not chick that guy on my path again; it appears he sleeps in on weekends and, pardon me for being blunt, he is just not a dedicated early morning Saturday runner like moi.
Normally on Saturday mornings I allow my pace to fall where it may and simply try to enjoy the long run.
Lately though I have been wanting to kick it up a notch and see if I can maintain a quicker pace for the duration of the 10-13 miles.
You see, something has been bothering me a bit about my pace – while I feel I have gotten much faster on a day-to-day basis, my splits have not been clocking in under 8:00 min/miles.
During races they sure do. And, on the dreaded treadmill they do. Outside on a day-to-day basis? No.
And that friends, needs to change.
No better time for change than yesterday. My pace yesterday morning simulated that of my best half marathon – my splits came in between 7:30 – 8:00/min miles throughout the run.
The best part? My legs felt great the entire time, I stopped for water one time and wasn’t even all that thirsty.
Maybe this watermelon had something to do with it?
I cut up a giant watermelon Friday afternoon. It filled two big containers.
I had none left by yesterday around noon. It is addicting I tell you.
Kodiak Cakes waffles are becoming a routine occurrence Saturday mornings aren’t they?
I am getting all fancy with them too now that I think who I am when it comes to waffle making.
Chocolate chip waffles topped with whipped cream, strawberries sprinkled with extra chocolate chips on top.
As a kid, perfect Saturday mornings were totally defined by the cartoons (plus Pee Wee’s Playhouse) and a big bowl of Cocoa Pebbles.
As an adult, coming back from an early morning run and being lazy all morning with waffles = happiness.
****IMPORTANT****
Over the next few weeks, many wonderful changes will be happening at The Cookie ChRUNicles.
In addition to a new layout and custom logo coming soon, starting tomorrow I will be making the switch to self-hosting my blog with wordpress.org versus operating under wordpress.com.
While the computer savvy people at WordPress handle the transfer for me scheduled to begin early tomorrow morning, I will be unable to post but you should still have access to the site during the process.
I would love to explain the logistics behind making this switch, but computer talk is a foreign language to me.
Click here though for a coherent explanation.
The web address remains the same and I will be back before you know it!
Admit it, you will miss me tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
