I sat down bright and early this morning to write this post when suddenly my computer decided to shut down and begin 30 minutes of updates.
Thankfully, because I am always ahead of schedule, those 30 minutes did not affect my routine.
Although it completely annoyed me.
I may be “summer messy” but I am still for the most part, completely organized.
Here is something you may not know about me: I AM ALWAYS EARLY. ALWAYS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.
If I am on time, it means I am running late.
This personality trait of mine gives me the summertime wiggle room if you will. I may play hooky if the sun is shining but the truth is, I always get things done and nothing is ever left to the last minute.
Anyway, now that my computer has decided it is updated, I am so happy to report that I made it over to Lifetime yesterday.
First up, the new spin bikes.
Appearance wise they don’t look like much but let me tell you, smooth riding compared to the old bikes. They seem to rely on air rather than a chain or something like that.
I am so not technical. All I can tell is that the pedaling and overall ride experience was smooth.
They also include a monitor but we didn’t focus much on it. I just kept randomly checking my RPM when we were working on speed intervals.
I love this Octane elliptical type machine and I am quite excited we now have it.
I first used it back in January when I checked out the Lifetime in Boca Raton, Fl.
It gives you so many options that you can never get bored with the same routine.
From the above diagram you can see how many different positions you can choose to do during your workout. You can adjust the width laterally, stand upright, lean back and/or squat while raising the resistance as well.
The squat position gives a great (and hard!) workout that is different from other machines.
It took me several minutes to locate the hill declining treadmill pictured above. They replaced ALL of the treadmills in the building so I literally got on and off a bunch of them looking for the button that declines.
These special treadmills are located in the ADVANCED TRAINING section of the gym.
The belt alone is advanced to me.
I only ran a few minutes on this machine because I had already put in my time during spin.
In the few minutes I was running, I realized that it would take some time to adjust to the style of the belt more so than just running down hill. I think it has something to do with the layout/openness of the treadmill.
I took this blurry picture while playing with the decline feature.
I will test this treadmill out again for a longer amount of time hopefully this week.
FOOD FINDS:
I picked up some stuff at Trader Joe’s yesterday. Of course I did, I am there every two days since I can’t remember everything I need anymore.
It was a condiment stock up day. Love the Sweet Chili sauce.
I decided to get the boy something different and fun for dinner so I went with these Uncured Chicken Hot Dogs. At first he looked at the package before dinner as if I was nuts but I told him I had heard they are amazing and that if he did not like them he did not need to eat them.
Truth: I don’t know anyone else that has tried these but it sounded good at the time to say it.
Of course he wanted baked beans and I didn’t have any.
I didn’t have any because he never wanted them when I would buy them.
Have no fear. I quickly made my own. Using whatever I could find on hand.
Enter the chick pea.
Let me tell you, they were delicious. They aren’t the conventional bean that is typically baked, but if you get the sauce right, which I did, you have yourself baked beans.
Recipe to come soon since I would not be able to give you exact amounts at this point. I need to make them again to be certain.
Banana Hot Dog breakfast.
He loved the hot dog rolls so why not eat one in the morning with a banana, peanut butter and some grape jelly?
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
If you had to pick one food that you couldn’t live without, what would it be?
