I’m happy to report that I had a fairly routine/uneventful week in workouts. After having a bad cold for ten days or so, it was nice to feel normal and boring again!
Last Week’s Workouts
Monday – 3 Mile Run
Tuesday – 3 Mile Walk
Wednesday – 4 Mile Run + 11 Min Standing Series (1 lb weights)
Melissa Wood Health’s “standing series” is similar to barre-style lower body workouts. It’s also similar to pilates exercises that you would do on the floor, only in the standing series, you are doing the poses while standing.
Thursday – 38 Min Yoga/Pilates Flow (bodyweight)
Friday – 3 Mile Walk + 12 Min Power Abs
Saturday – 6.5 Miles
It was out-of-nowhere hot and humid this weekend but I got lucky because it was overcast for half of my run this morning on the boardwalk. Overcast weather at the beach may not be as pretty but it’s much better for running in the summer heat!
The sun was out for the last few miles of my run and I definitely felt it. This is definitely my favorite time of year for running but I know it will take a few runs to fully adjust to the heat.

You may have seen the horrible news about a runner who died at the Brooklyn Half Marathon (and 15 others were hospitalized). While they don’t know the exact cause, it’s a reminder that running in sudden heat/humidity is not easy on the body.
