I’m so glad that it’s Friday.
I seem to have come down with a cold a few days ago and although it’s mild, it’s still annoying. This cold also came at the wrong time of the month — like why do I need to suffer with cramps at the same time as a cold? Men don’t realize how easy they have it.
I’m excited for Mother’s Day though! Long time readers already know that my son and I have our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast Tradition. I started the tradition without knowing that I was starting something so serious for us!
In 2010, I simply decided on a whim that we should go to the diner for breakfast in the morning because my son was always up so early that it just seemed like a good, special idea in that moment.
Since then, going out for an early breakfast became our Mother’s Day tradition. Although my son no longer wakes up so early, we still look forward to leaving this house first thing and debating which breakfast spot will be the spot each year.
Here’s a run down of our breakfast tradition since I started my blog in 2013. We tend to rotate between the Premier Diner and Maureen’s Kitchen, usually decided by my son.

2020: Not Our Typical Mother’s Day Breakfast
I remember thinking last year that there was a good chance that my son wouldn’t be home from his first year of college in time for Mother’s Day. At the time, I was not aware that he would receive a full scholarship to a local, private university which would change his plans that were already in place to go away to school at University of Buffalo.
For this Sunday, my son is not only home and finished with finals, he also isn’t arguing with me about where I would like to go for breakfast — he must really be growing up! I will report back with the details on Monday. While I know where we are headed, I haven’t decided if I will have baked oatmeal or something else. Big decisions ahead. 🙂
Friday Favorites
I haven’t had much time to browse my favorite fashion sites this week. I did make the decision to get the Poolstar Slides which I mentioned last week and I’m so glad that I did. They are so cute and comfortable and I will wear them now through June and then from late August likely through November. Such a great buy.
I did see this tote for summer and this one too which I think I shared a version of last summer too.
Bloomingdale’s has it’s summer kick off event so you get 25% off items that are valid during the sale when you use your Bloomingdale’s card or 20% off without the card.
Alo Yoga has a new Switch It Up Bra which allows you to style the sports bra in various ways.
Saks has some Stoney Clover pouches on sale! It’s worth checking out.
Oh, Lululemon has a new windbreaker for running. I really could use a new one!
