It’s a little interesting these days to send usual emails that start with the sentence, I hope you are well. Like, it used to be that you added that opening sentence as a polite way to intro into why you are really emailing the person. When now, you really mean it and the person understands why are you are saying it. I really hope you are well.
Anyway. It’s Wednesday in case you lost track of the day.
What have you been eating while at home? Same stuff as usual? Different? Are you eating your pantry or just using that as a reserve? We have over ten boxes of macaroni and cheese but I think my son has chosen it as a meal one time in the last two weeks. He hasn’t touched the cans of soup he made me buy either. Instead, he continues to tell me what we need to keep ordering from the grocery stores.
Even with all this ordering and stocking of the kitchen, I still feel like I need a few things. I’m not the best at bulk shopping because I’m so used to running into Trader Joe’s when I feel like it. I don’t really know how to think ahead and buy extra food as well as I need to right now. But I’m trying to figure that out.
I’m over here still eating my usual salads at home. If you need salad ideas, here’s a link to a post that outlines my combinations.
We stocked with a bunch of prepared foods the other day. I loved the grilled vegetables. The brown bag contains more bagels. I have well over a dozen bagels in my freezer. I made a pizza bagel for dinner last night.
As long as the pizza places and restaurants stay open for taking out, we will still do take out. I brought home my favorite slice of whole wheat margarita pizza the other night to have with a salad.
We also took out from The Cheesecake Factory over the weekend. Our order came with a free slice of Linda’s Fudge Cake. No picture to share because my son grabbed it too fast but he let me have some. 🙂
And finally, I had the greatest french fries over the weekend from Edward’s in Tribeca. Usually, I’m an onion rings fan but the veggie burger I ordered for taking out came with french fries —they were absolutely delicious and make me reconsider my debate of onion rings vs. french fries. I would choose these french fries over an onion ring any day.
In case you are interested, I once wrote a post about the best onion rings in New York. Maybe I should go around trying french fries when New York stops being labeled as an epicenter for the virus and the whole world returns to life as normal.
I’m still trying to figure out the pantry stock up, too. There are so many great posts about what we should have in our pantries, but I’m over here like, “I was trying to plan week to week on a budget.” Now that I don’t want to shop weekly or can’t, pantry staples are absent. These uncertain times are opportunities to be creative and trust God. I hope it’s all over soon and I do hope you and your family are well and stay well!
I hope it’s over soon too and that you are well! I would say stock up on cans of beans (i live on chick peas) but I read somewhere today that even Trader Joe’s is limiting people to two per item of every item. Not sure if that’s true.
