I can’t believe it’s time to look back on 2018 with my highlights from the year!
Running…
Wasn’t it just yesterday that I dropped that shampoo bottle on my foot New Year’s weekend 2017 which ultimately altered the course of my running for the year?
2018 became a major year of change to my workout routine. Every day I think about that shampoo bottle and how grateful I am for dropping it on my foot without creating injury as it forced me to take a step back…which led to me realizing how great it was to do less and how I wanted to do less going forward.
I wrote a few posts on the subject but here are the highlights:
My Experience With A Break From Running
I Didn’t Gain Weight Running Less
Less is so much more when it comes to running and exercise for me. Deep down it was what I wanted but I didn’t know how to stop running my routine weekly mileage of 40+ miles since I was such a creature of habit. Once I took that break, everything just fell into place.
I did run two races this year and placed second for my age in the 5K!
Long Island Marathon Weekend 10K (May 2018)
Blue Ribbon Run For Prostate Cancer 5K (November 2018)
Trips…
I was in Las Vegas for a few days in January and shared the highlights of what I ate! Gosh, I feel like I was just there!
Heather’s Birthday in Miami!
I surprised Heather for her 40th birthday! She had no idea that I had already planned to surprise her for her birthday in the fall when she surprised me for my birthday in June.

Disney World!
We did our Disney World thing just last week which has become tradition for us this time of year.
Fashion….
I featured even more of my favorite clothes and accessories this year on the blog. While I’ve been writing about my fashion favorites for almost 6 years (!!), expect me to keep it up even more consistently — I am going to try for every week as the response to that has been terrific. Plus, it’s what I enjoy.
While it’s hard to narrow down my favorite brands and outfits from the year, I will go with everything from Bailey 44…and definitely a renewed love for 7 For All Mankind Jeans.
Food…
My favorite food in 2018 was definitely pizza. I don’t see that changing!

My 40th Birthday!
The biggest deal of the year was definitely turning 40. I can honestly say that this birthday was probably my favorite to date!
While I already had fun plans and a birthday brunch in place, Heather surprised me by showing up for the full weekend of my birthday which brought everything to a whole other level of fun. See recap posts: This is 40 and Birthday Favorites.
They say life begins at 40 or at least it seems that life changes drastically at 40. Without getting too much into detail here because as you know, I do mostly keep my personal life private, my life changed so majorly on my birthday and I need to share it.
I heard from someone who I hadn’t seen in 10 years. Of course I thought about him and sort of knew his whereabouts but then he reached out on my birthday which turned into more than just the “hey, happy birthday” message I initially thought it was when I received it. We shall see what happens but man, my life and year changed in that moment. I was absolutely not expecting it.
Don’t I always say the universe works in weird ways? This is the kind of stuff which makes waking up each day so very exciting. You just never know what each new day may bring. 🙂
Wishing you a very Happy New Year! See you in 2019!

Any plans for New Year’s Eve? Do you like to go out or stay home?
What was your favorite food in 2018?
Happy New Year! You had such an awesome year in 2018! This was a huge year for me – never in January did I think I would be a homeowner back in my college town!
Mazel! I hope the new year brings you much love and happiness! You were very brave to do Disney last week. My kids have been begging so contemplating Mickey’s not so scary Halloween because I only have to commit to a night…contemplating!
Happy New Year! Definitely do the night in Disney – even if it’s crowded, it’s still fun. Just tell them in advance they can’t do everything there and you will be fine lol
I think my favorite part of your 2018 was all the delicious looking pizza. I also adored the post about new moms not needing to work out. 🙂
I was definitely in a pizza phase all year and it continues!
