Weekend Eats (Lots of salads!)

The weather over the weekend was so NOT NICE. While it didn’t really rain and by yesterday afternoon the sun sort of came out, it was mostly a cloudy and gray weekend. BLEH. The only time I’ve even seen my pool so far this season is when I take a peak while outside the gym. Hopefully next weekend is a different story!

I was busy over the weekend regardless of the weather, finishing up the list of things I need to get together to pack up my son for his teen tour (!!) — although I still haven’t exactly packed. It’s overwhelming me if you want to know the truth. Like, everything is out but the kid hasn’t helped me to determine which t-shirts he wants packed, which outfit he wants to wear on Friday, and which shorts for sure he wants to take. The planner in me is starting to freak but I know it will get done eventually. My goal is now by Wednesday to have everything zipped up and finished.

Ugh.

Anyway, I somehow managed some pictures from my meals salads over the weekend! You know I’m not the best anymore at thinking to take pictures of what I eat but I did a good job over the last few days!

Can you see how gigantic this chopped veggie salad is from Fanatico?! Between my much smaller appetite lately and the size of this bowl, this salad was honestly like 3 meals.

My heart belongs to molten lava cake. 🙂

No joke, the line for Chopt was OUT THE DOOR on Saturday. They even updated their check out process in what looked like an effort to streamline things but it didn’t matter. Easily waited 30 minutes for a salad. Not normal. And honestly, the guy who made my Chopt salad was really skimpy with the toppings scooper that my bowl didn’t have much in it.

I told you my pizza and salad game is going strong! I’m obsessed.

Another salad! This one had beets, avocado, dried cranberries, some sort of candied nut, and I think goat cheese.

Of course I made a stop over the weekend to visit my favorite Dior makeup counter. Most of the time, my makeup counter visits are social visits. I don’t always need new makeup, I just need the conversation with Jill who has become my friend more than even my makeup artist. I sit in the chair like it’s a therapy session for both of us. We chat and laugh and chat some more and then I move on with my shopping for the day.

The one place I’m realizing I did not stop over the weekend was a grocery store. I know this is what happens to me in the summer but it’s too soon to happen! My son is still home and now we have nothing to eat aside from breakfast or chicken nuggets. Oops.

Best thing you ate over the weekend?

Are you bad about grocery shopping during the summer?

  1. At least you have breakfast and I’m assuming coffee. Maybe you can eat some leftovers of that ginormous salad. That thing is a beast. I kind of want one now. Also I showed all the salad pictures today too. There was pizza in there as well although I forgot to snap a picture. Oops.

  2. ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️Packing for those teen tours was me finally asking and asking and then just doing it myself. My two children did China and Hong Kong, Eastern Europe and Israel, Spain and many more over different summers and I always had to do the ultimate packing. I assume he’s going cross country at his age or the Vancouver, Seattle and Arizona trip. He’ll have a blast and so will you free as a bird for a few weeks. Let yourself enjoy and go have fun—that’s what summers for❤️

  3. That guy really did skimp on the toppings for your salad, but that cake looks amazing! Hopefully the sun is back out in New York for you this week! I’ve been trying to stay on a schedule with grocery shopping every sunday, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen,

  4. That beet and goat cheese salad looks delicious, as does that giant salad! I need to get to the grocery store now. We started getting a produce box on Fridays, which helps keep grocery shopping trips to a minimum.

  5. I feel like the weekends in general have been not very nice! We did have 1 nice day last weekend and 1 nice day this weekend here, but other than that its been gross and rainy. I still do the same amount of grocery shopping in the summer since we just order them online!

  6. Those salads look amazing, I totally agree pizza + salad is the ultimate meal 🙂

Best thing I ate was a warm batch of cookies from the my bubbe’s oven (I’m in Sydney it’s cold here)

It’s about to be school holidays here too, but it’s winter so we only get 2 weeks off. I’m about a year older than your son and that teen tour you always mention sounds wicked fun! Jealous we don’t have anything like that over here!

And you are a super mom. I never had help packing my things for anything when I was younger! Seriously. My first camp was when I was seven, and I packed myself lol.

My parents are not very hands on in that way, I would love to have you as a mom 🙂
