Before getting to the new Trader Joe’s cauliflower gnocchi, I figured I would share my most recent TJ shop!
Food shopping is a TOTAL chore and bore for me. I think I’ve told you this, right? There were some phases in my life when I enjoyed the grocery store but that’s not the case anymore. I want to get my food shopping done as quickly and as infrequently as I can!
Lately however, I’m at Trader Joe’s more often than I actually want to be due to my scatter-brained approach to food shopping. I’m not making a list or paying attention to the food we have at home in comparison to the ingredients we need. I’m also not focused while in the store which means I forget random things EVERY SINGLE TIME.
This weekend I tried going to Trader Joe’s on the mission to not be back for seven days. I took a look at my pantry before I left the house to figure out what was missing and what we may want to eat. While I fill in my shopping with food from Stew Leonard’s too (like skirt steak, chicken, more fresh produce), I’m hoping this Trader Joe’s shop can last me long enough to not need a random stop this week!

Trader Joe’s Cauliflower Gnocchi:
You may have seen the hype over Trader Joe’s Cauliflower Gnocchi on social media over the last few weeks. While I am certainly not the type to eliminate carbs, the social media reviews convinced me to try the cauliflower gnocchi at least once!
The ingredients list for the cauliflower gnocchi is pretty minimal. Isn’t cassava flour what the Paleo people eat?
I followed the recommendations from social media reviewers that said to cook the cauliflower gnocchi in a pan for best results. It seems if you try to boil the gnocchi, they get mushy and lose their shape.
Just a few minutes in a pan and the cauliflower gnocchi were ready!
As for taste, I was rather impressed because the cauliflower gnocchi tasted like NOTHING. They had great texture and no flavor. I had read mixed reviews where some people said the gnocchi had a weird taste – definitely not the case with my experience. And if you didn’t tell me what I was eating, I would NEVER guess that the gnocchi were made from cauliflower at all. I would definitely recommend this cauliflower gnocchi if you are a pasta/gnocchi lover and are looking to try a substitute.

How often are in you in the grocery store?
Have you tried the Trader Joe’s cauliflower gnocchi? What did you think?
I almost laughed out loud when I read “Paleo people”. I don’t know why but I found it so funny! Probably because I can’t keep up with all the diets people are eating from now.
The cauliflower gnocchi seems like a great option to have in the freezer for any last minute or “I need food now or I’ll be hangry” meals.
HA – I laughed when I wrote it although I was being serious. I think that’s what the paleo people eat 🙂
I don’t really like cauliflower flavored anything, so I’m lucky that I don’t need to have a substitute! I’ve made regular gnocchi from scratch before and it’s SO GOOD. I could go for some today in fact…
this gnocchi was great because it definitely didn’t taste at all like cauliflower. it had zero taste and just took on the flavor of whatever else you serve it with.
I keep meaning to make regular gnocchi from scratch – it’s been so long since I’ve had it. I’m not a huge fan of cauliflower flavored things (I think I overdid cauliflower rice when I first discovered it was a thing) but gnocchi sure is delicious!
this gnocchi was really great – and definitely didn’t taste anything like cauliflower! It had no taste at all actually.
I actually don’t mind the grocery store, but I would much rather be home with my kiddos 🙂 I hit up Costco about every 2 weeks and I’ve been using the Wal Mart curbside grocery service and it’s amazing!!
curbside is a wonderful option!
I actually went to TJs this weekend (for the first time in forever) and I forgot my list! I somehow managed to get most of the things I needed. I hadn’t heard about the cauliflower gnocchi so I didn’t even look for it!
I still love to grocery shop, especially when I’m hungry although I do try to limit it to twice a week. And I never go on weekends now; I’m like the old retired people who do their shopping midweek.
