Happy Outdoor Runner + Statement Sneakers (Friday Favorites)

star glitter sneakers

So I had a post almost finished for yesterday but then I woke up and didn’t feel inspired by it so I didn’t post it. The post wasn’t bad and parts of it made me laugh but something was missing.

Anyway, the good news is that I’m here today with a nice round of Friday Favorites!

Favorite Fitness:

This week has been SO GREAT for running. I planned my runs around Wednesday’s rain which means I was able to run outside in the spring sunshine Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday! The best part of all of this has been my eager attitude to get outside to run. I have that happy outdoor runner feeling which I really haven’t had in quite a while. I’m pretty sure I have the weather to thank for bringing me back to my happy outdoor runner roots.

A part of me wonders if my mileage will start to creep back up now that it’s nice out and then the other part of me is like, okay, cool. it’s going to rain on Wednesday so that’s the day I will choose Pure Barre instead of running.

While it’s possible my distance creeps up slightly, the number of days I run a week (which is at four right now) will not change. I like four days. It’s a nice balance. Just enough running without being too much! Yesterday’s run of 6 miles FELT SO GOOD yet it’s nice to know I’m not running today but can look forward to running tomorrow. Make sense?

Favorite Food:

This is more about the favorite food smell this week! My son has been back to eating blueberry waffles for breakfast before school and the smell always reminds me of when he was a baby.

Trader Joe's blueberry waffles

When my son was around a year old, I would make him a blueberry waffle every morning for breakfast alongside apple sauce or banana. He would then proceed to feed himself the little pieces of waffle with the fruit while watching Sesame Street in the high chair. I swear that just the smell of a blueberry waffle reminds me of that time from when he was little! I don’t think that food smell memory will ever change.

Favorite Fashion:

My eyes light up whenever I see glitter, especially when I spot glitter involved in statement sneakers. Shoes are a statement piece for me. I’m not one to accessorize with jewelry (I like my basics) but I do love a statement shoe, especially statement sneakers.

I couldn’t find the link for the above glitter hi top statement sneakers so instead I found you:

The above pair with the stones and star in the lo-top version.

Then there’s this pair of statement sneakers rainbow on the side (!!) which I love and oh, this pair too with the stripes and a star! See what happens when I go looking for links online, I find even more shoes!

I also found you two pairs of Pumas that incorporate glitter at a good price point.

Puma Basket Heart Leather & Glitter Lace Up

AND this pair of Mossimo glitter sneakers on sale at Target!

You can also check this post this which features wider variety of super cute sneakers you need right now.  It’s one of my more popular posts recently which makes the fashion side of my personality so very happy. 🙂

Favorite Find:

I saw the glitter sneakers while at The Shoe Box earlier this week looking for sandals. As I said, shoes are statement piece for me. I’m not always sure what type of sandal or shoe I’m looking for, but I always know it when I see it.

Insert heart emoji here. These are my new statement sandals for summer.

mystique sandals

I’ve tried everything to locate the link for these jeweled sandals but can’t find it!! I did find these heart flip flops though – totally unrelated but they are adorable and beyond reasonable. 🙂

Favorite Funny:

So my sweet little boy who used to eat blueberry waffles in the high chair thinks he is really funny. Like he thought it would be really hysterical to take my phone and set my alarm clock without telling me (through the lock screen he does this, how is that even possible?) for 2:23 AM.

I woke up (at 2:23 AM, just throwing the time in here again) to hear my phone alarm blasting the song,  Bring em Out, Bring em out, Bring em out, Bring em out….

bring em out

It took me a few seconds in my sleep to realize that no, I am not at my son’s Bar Mitzvah (Bring Em Out was his party entrance song), I am in fact being pranked by own child at 2:23 AM. I knew it almost immediately that he had done this to me.

Can you imagine? I never even use an alarm clock so I didn’t even know how to shut the darn thing off.

He’s funny, I know. This kid will go places in life, I get it. Just one day, I dohope he has children who do these same things to him so that he can call me to complain and I can laugh and say KARMA.

  1. I really should have planned my running days around the weather this week! 2 of the 3 days I planned to run it was pouring rain (Wednesday and today). Oh my gosh, that alarm would have totally freaked me out!

  2. I love that we can recall memories based on a simple smell. The human brain (and nose be extension) are pretty amazing.

My underwear still has holes, but I just bought Ave the most adorable pair of unicorn sneakers from Van’s. They are everything and I’m slightly jealous.

  3. I got to have those sandals. I love them! I hope you get your mileage figured out. I know its totally irrelevant to the post itself but I just got hit by the first lines of your posts, you weren’t inspired enough to write so you didn’t post it immediately. I think its important for bloggers to think about this. Posting and posting just for the sake of posting, in the end, the audience will feel the emptiness.

Any ways, have a great day!

    Cheers,
    Erika
