Versed Skincare Review

I’m excited to share my e.l.f. skincare review with you today!

As you know, I’m more than willing to spend top dollar on quality skincare. Taking care of my skin is a major priority for me (and should be for you, too). If you will invest in the type of food you put in your body along with your running shoes, race registrations, and workout gear, why wouldn’t you invest in taking care of your skin?!

The good news is that e.l.f. skincare is SUPER CHEAP. Like unbelievably cheap. And available at Target!

For these reasons, combined with reading a ton of positive e.l.f. skincare product reviews, I decided to give a few of the e.l.f. products a try to see what the hype is about. If I can save some money, why the heck not?!

Not only are e.l.f. skincare products SUPER CHEAP, they are:

  • Free of Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates
  • Cruelty-Free & Vegan
  • Hypoallergenic and Non-Comedogenic

Another important plus with e.l.f. skincare products are that they seem to contain a high enough concentration of quality ingredients to make them worth using which was a big selling point to me. It would be pointless to save money on skincare if I’m sacrificing the ingredients/results, you know?

The products I have reviewed and outlined below are a good start for you in terms of a daily e.l.f. skincare regimen.

  • cleanser
  • toner
  • serum
  • eye cream
  • moisturizer

While there are additional products to use on a regular basis and e.l.f. does has a pretty extensive skincare line, I think beginning the discussion with just a few basic, daily products is a nice start.

e.l.f. Daily Face Cleanser-  At a price of four dollars, you really can’t go wrong. Even if you use this daily face cleanser simply in your rotation with other cleansers or save it for when you run out of your favorite cleanser, this one should be a staple in your bathroom cabinet. I have no complaints, yet nothing, in particular, to say either. I like this e.l.f. daily face cleanser. It has a mild scent, gets my makeup off and leaves my face feeling clean. Do I prefer my favorite Dior foaming cleanser? Yes. Why? I’m not even sure. But I will use both and will DEFINITELY purchase this cleanser again. It’s a no-brainer at this price point!

e.l.f. Hydrating Water Essence –FAVORITE PRODUCT! I’ve already written about this hydrating water essence so you know that I love it! it’s a great toner for after washing your face and before applying serum and moisturizer. It has a nice, mild scent and really feels so hydrating. I will definitely buy this product again as soon as my current bottle runs out.

e.l.f. Beauty Shield Vitamin C Face Protecting Serum – I really like this serum! It comes in a nice bottle with a dropper type of tube for application. It keeps you from overusing the product – you just push the button once to release a little of the serum into the dropper and then drop into your hand to smooth all over your face.

“Formulated with key antioxidants, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Pomegranate Extract, to help refine, brighten skin tone, and protect against the effects of the environmental aggressors.”

e.l.f. Beauty Shield Massaging Overnight Recovery Cream- Moisturizers can be where things get tricky. I tend to spend a good amount of money on my moisturizer and get really nervous to switch things up or spend on a cheaper product in fear that the ingredients won’t be concentrated enough to provide the right level of treatment.

However, this beauty shield massaging overnight recovery cream so far has been wonderful! The reviews of the product are really decent too. The only complaint I read about revolves around the fragrance because fragrance can be irritating but I like the mild scent! I also learned from the makeup artist in the e.l.f. store that the fragrance they use is from natural citrus extracts. Not sure about that.

“This lightweight gel-cream contains nourishing antioxidants that help fight against environmental aggressors. The rollerball applicator massages and stimulates the skin to encourage the absorption of nourishing antioxidants Vitamin C, Pomegranate Extract, Argan Oil, and Carrot Seed Oil.”

The packaging prevents the ingredients from being exposed to air which helps to preserve their concentration and impact.  This moisturizer comes in a tube with roller balls on the applicator so that you can massage what you apply to your skin to increase circulation and absorption! While I wouldn’t roll it on my forehead, I do really like it on my cheeks!

It’s labeled a night cream but I use it both morning and evening. I’m not big on using separate day/night creams as I don’t use a moisturizer with SPF. I use my Dior DreamSkin Perfect Skin Cushion with SPF 50 every day and Skinceuticals SPF 50 when running/at the beach.

I definitely recommend this moisturizer, especially at the price of fourteen dollars! It’s unreal!

e.l.f. Illuminating Eye Cream – At a price of ten dollars for an eye cream, you can’t go wrong keeping it in your cabinet. I’m not 100% sure if it does anything for me because I currently use an amazing eye serum which I feel does the work I need in terms of keeping fine lines far away while promoting circulation under the eye to eliminate dark circles. However, I do think this e.l.f. illuminating eye cream keeps the under-eye area hydrated and I’m not reacting poorly to it so something tells me it’s good. It does have brightening qualities to it so the girl in the e.l.f store told me to use this eye cream during the day my serum at night. I like to use my eye serum day and night though with cream on top – so do what works for you!

BONUS TIP: Eye cream and eye serum can and should be applied to the upper lip area to prevent wrinkling above the lip!

e.l.f. ACTIVE:

You already know how I feel about running with makeup on the face. JUST NO. However, if you must, they have e.l.f. active which is a line of products to use before/during/after workouts. I can’t review it for you because I don’t use these types of products but wanted to mention it to you anyway in case you wanted to give it a try.

elf-active

It’s not an easy find as they don’t currently sell e.l.f. active in Target but they do sell it online and in the e.l.f. stores.

Just for example –  e.l.f.’s active mascara is sweatproof. There’s a difference between waterproof and sweatproof. You can’t run with waterproof mascara on and expect it to do what sweat-proof mascara can do for you when you are active. They also have makeup remover wipes and post-workout towelettes.

BOTTOM LINE:

I really like what I’ve used so far from e.l.f.’s skincare line. The products listed above add up to half of what I usually spend on just one moisturizer! I feel like a kid in the candy store when I shop e.l.f. products! Give me everything to try! It’s so darn cheap!

ON MY LIST:

I want to try The e.l.f. Beauty Shield Recharging Magnetic Mask Kit and plan to review some of the makeup soon too.

*Please keep in mind that everyone’s skin is different. What works for me and my skin (and at the age of ALMOST 40) may not work for you, and may not have worked for me twenty years ago. I’m not acne-prone and I don’t have dry or oily skin. I just have regular skin (on the more sensitive side) and work to keep it clean, hydrated, and free of wrinkles.

Please let me know if you have any questions about e.l.f. skincare or any skincare!

    1. My biggest concern was buying the stuff to realize that the products wouldn’t do anything. At such a low price, you wonder if they put enough concentration of the useful ingredients to see and feel a difference in your skin – I was pleasantly surprised so far! And yeah, the active line is interesting. They sell it in the store and maybe a little bit online but not at target that I’ve seen yet.

  1. OK, if its cheap and available at Target maybe Ill consider giving it a try:) No but really, this could be a good option for me. I’ll have to come back to this when I actually have the energy to shop for skin care products.
