Long Island Outdoor Dining Spots

Outdoor dining on Long Island is a big deal here in the summer.

One of my new favorite Long Island outdoor dining spots is View, located on the Great South Bay in Oakdale.

While I am not a seafood lover, I am a sushi lover.

If sushi is on a menu, you know I am going to order it. I totally appreciate that View’s sushi menu is only available Wednesday through Sunday which means it’s super fresh.

We started with the Yummy Balls as an appetizer. Funny name, I know, but I’ve seen these served as an appetizer at other restaurants too under the same name.

We ordered a few sushi rolls to share as our meal which were fresh and delicious. I can’t remember which specialty roll we selected which always happens to me! They all start to blend together. šŸ™‚

I know there was a Philadelphia roll, vegetable roll and the Miami roll which was shrimp, cucumber and avocado.

Of course I was curious about the dessert menu and once I saw it, I knew exactly what we would order.

Oh my goodness! They bake the Dancing With The Devil dessert fresh to order which means you wait a little bit longer than normal but it’s SO WORTH IT. Not to mention, you are dining outside and enjoying the atmosphere so who cares how long dessert takes to come out?

I will definitely be recreating this Dancing With The Devil dessert at home! This dessert is cooked in a cast iron skillet and contains a giant Ghirardelli brownie with chocolate chip cookies, Oreo’s, and peanut butter cups baked inside topped with ice cream, whipped cream and hot fudge.

We couldn’t finish it but did a really good job trying. I really liked it when it got all melty at the end. šŸ™‚

I will definitely be going back to View before the summer is over.

And just a quick mention of one of my other favorite Long Island outdoor dining spots!

You may recall me dining at Salt On The Water last year. Salt is located in my hometown area so I get extra excited to go there. I remember when I was a teenager rollerblading to this restaurant which was under another name at the time.

I was back at Salt the other night to try their new menu for this summer season.

While I love what I ordered last summer at Salt, I definitely LOVE the new menu. This time around I chose the zucchini noodle primavera. We also ordered the tuna poke as an appetizer which seems to be all the rage right now, right?

Summer is so not over yet. There’s lots of time for outdoor dining so stay tuned for more Long Island outdoor dining from me!

  1. Water side dining sounds ABSOLUTELY Dreamy! That reminds me of the time we took a boat out on a lake in Steamboat Springs, CO. It was so much fun grilling on the boat and eating dinner there.

  2. Wow… that sushi looks amazing!! And that brownie!

My favorite roll to order is a sweet potato roll šŸ™‚ I’m a vegetarian and I just love the texture of these.

Have a great rest of your Friday!!
