I have been waiting for Spoons Ice Cream & Cereal Bar to open for months. The hype was all over social media and I was literally waiting by my Instagram for the grand opening announcement.
Spoons opened last week and we finally went the other day to check it out!
Spoons Ice Cream & Cereal Bar is just an ice cream window type of store, not a go in and sit down ice cream parlor.
On display outside is the menu which is super straight to the point.
Spoons has one ice cream flavor (vanilla) with a variety of cereals and toppings to choose from which are blended together. For six dollars, you get a nice sized cup of ice cream with one cereal and one topping mixed in. You can always add more of each for an additional price. For a dollar more, you can get your creation made as a milkshake.
I actually appreciated how simple, basic and to the point the menu and process is at Spoons. It’s not confusing, your choices seem endless yet are limited which means you don’t over stress your decision too much.
I peaked inside while they were making our ice cream creation to see the inner operations of the Spoons Ice Cream & Cereal Bar.
Those are the blender machines where they add the ice cream, toppings and cereal.
For our Spoons Ice Cream & Cereal Bar creation, we chose Reeses Puffs as our cereal and cookie dough as the mix-in. It was absolutely delicious! The cereal and cookie dough were both blended up real good but every now and then, you caught a nice bite of topping and cereal.
In full disclosure, I shared this cup with my son because once I saw that Spoons didn’t serve frozen yogurt, I knew a big cup of ice cream would not sit too well in my stomach.
I am hoping that at some point, Spoons begins to offer a vanilla frozen yogurt. While I definitely appreciate the simplistic menu, I think it’s fair to think a frozen yogurt option is worth the addition.
Overall we loved Spoons Ice Cream & Cereal Bar and can’t wait to go back to try another cereal and topping combination! I am thinking something with Cookie Crisp. Or Fruity Pebbles. Or Rice Krispy Treats Cereal, I loved that cereal as a kid!

Have you experienced an ice cream & cereal bar in your area? What did you think?
Which cereal and toppings would you choose?
I like that combo! I often mix my cereal into yogurt, so it’s kind of the same idea. I’m not a big ice cream person (or frozen yogurt) but I do like the chunks–I’ll pick out the chunks and leave the ice cream!
ha, I love the chunks of toppings too! I totally pick them out of the ice cream containers when I have them in the freezer.
Ice cream and cereal together? That sounds like a dream come true. I’ve never seen an idea like that, but I think it’s a wonderful idea. I love the option you chose. 🙂 Ice cream and cereal is definitely a blessing. 🙂 I’m thankful that God enables us to discover different food combos that work so well.
it really was a great combination, especially when all blended together.
This sounds SO good–I never have cereal with milk–and fro yo with it would be great–I lived on that combo in college!! They do need some other options–and maybe something dairy free too:))
agreed! dairy free and a frozen yogurt option would be perfect!
Crazy how something so insanely simple ends up being so satisfying! I have yet to try Kellogg’s but it’s definitely on the agenda!
I’m hoping my son wants to try Kellogg’s next time we are in the city and near Times Square!
i have never herd or been to a cereal bar but it sounds fun! honey nut cheerios with cookie dough sounds interesting
I think anything with cookie dough is a great idea!
Sign me up for this place please. I love ice cream and I adore cereal. It’s my idea of heaven.
