Awesome Running Workouts! (2016)

Awesome collection of running workouts that are perfect for running outside or on the treadmill!

This collection of awesome running workouts is just as much for me as it is for you!

My miles tend to become a blur as the weeks fly by that even I lose site of some of the running workouts I have created for myself and for the blog during the year.

By now you must know that I am obsessed with my easy run on the treadmill workout plan. I mean, I run that plan that I made up earlier this year almost every time that I run on the treadmill these days. It’s great for just your basic running warm up to lead you into a speedier run but it’s also terrific when you need to run easy but still need to engage yourself while running indoors.

But that’s not the only running workout I created this year!

Let’s take a look and recall the other running workouts from 2016. I am including the infographics in this post for each workout plan but I recommend you click on through for the full posts in order to understand exactly what I am talking about so that you have an awesome run!

Easy Run on the Treadmill Workout – How many times can I say that I love this easy running plan?!

Run By Time Tempo Workout – I made this workout up while running outside over the summer but it’s perfect for treadmill running too! It’s a good idea to get away from running according to a specific pace for every run. Why not try running by time and effort instead?

Run By Time Tempo Workout!

Tempo Interval Workout – Another great, engaging running workout that doesn’t focus so much on a specific pace but on effort level. This workout is perfect for both outdoor running or treadmill running.

New 8 Mile Workout which is engaging and challenging in a good way! Work on your tempo paces and customize it to fit your current training plans

13 Mile Long Run Workout – Sometimes those long runs need some structure when you aren’t following a race training plan.

  1. I always like adding in a running workout every once in a while when I’m not following a training plan! I havent run on the treadmill in almost a year, but Im sure I will be using one when I travel for the holidays.

  2. I used to very rarely run on the treadmill. I bought one when Jake was born (over 16 years ago) and I’d use it maybe once a month? And then I didn’t start using it more regularly until I was training for my ultra in 2011; it was a good way to add weekly mileage without putting too much stress on my body. But now? I use it all the time! It’s my favourite place to do my speed work because it’s close to a bathroom. 🙂 I’ll run on the treadmill today because I didn’t wake up early enough this morning to run before Andrew left for work. I usually give Callum my phone and a snack and run while he watches a movie.

  3. These workouts look great! Will def be trying them out!

I am very pro-treadmill for two reasons … 1.) I have zero desire to run in freezing temps and when snow/ice is covering the ground and 2.) Treadmills force me to do speed work! Got in 8 miles on the treadmill this morning … First 2 miles of warm-up/easy running … 5 miles of speed play … Last mile easy!
