Busy Weekend & Good Food

It feels like my son has some sort of flexible school schedule because it seems as though he is off every few days! Last week he was off from school for Election Day and Veteran’s Day, this week will be a full week of school before next week is a short week for Thanksgiving.

How are we already up to Thanksgiving? I don’t even understand.

Running Stuff:

I recapped my week of running in yesterday’s workout recap.

Even though I am in a need of a new pair of Adidas Energy Boosts (must buy this week!), overall it was an awesome week of fresh air miles with not one morning inside on the treadmill thanks to Daylight Savings Time.

However, since last week was a higher mileage week that felt super great overall, I am expecting this week to possibly feel heavy-legged and blah because that’s usually how things go. Since I am expecting it, I am going to be okay with it.

Blog Stuff:

I am doing my best to keep up with my blogging schedule but I am struggling!

Burnout hit me after the Bar Mitzvah which really had nothing to do with the blog and everything to do with juggling so many emotions and planning details for so long.

It’s also really hard mentally to keep up with my own blog and the blog that I run for work! Our brains can only write so much, you know? I am hoping at some point to find the balance again. There are a few more meaningful posts that I am trying to write but I just don’t have the head to sit down and finish them like I normally do so I am telling myself that it’s okay. I will get to it when I feel up to it.

Weekend Stuff:

We went to Zinburger Friday night for dinner and I ordered the veggie burger plus onion rings because I live for onion rings.

Oh wait, back up! Friday afternoon I met my friends at Del Frisco’s.

I love Molten Chocolate Cake and although this cute little cake was good, the gooey molten middle was missing.

I had two parties to attend Saturday night. The first stop was Lisa’s house.

Lisa always throws a beautiful party and I know that I can count on an evening of great food when she is in charge.

Local readers: Lisa tends to cater from Iavarone Brothers and it’s always delicious!

I think I have told you this before but Lisa is the queen of candy table displays. She arranged this candy table for her party Saturday night and was the brains behind the candy table display at my son’s Bar Mitzvah.

After Lisa’s party, my friend and I stopped by a 40th birthday party for one of our old friends (ha, no pun intended!). I managed a picture of the cake and of course made a comment about the fact that his birthday cake did not include chocolate.

My son had two hockey games this weekend including one yesterday morning, way too bright and early.

I told you I would live in the sweatshirt from my son’s Bar Mitzvah! My dad was kind enough to take a good picture of the back of the sweatshirt so you can really see it.

After yesterday’s hockey game, we went for brunch at the Premier Diner where I ordered my favorite baked oatmeal. I really do think the Premier Diner has the best baked oatmeal ever.

I was so super tired the rest of the day yesterday probably from being out late Saturday night and getting out the door early for my son’s hockey game that I struggled to get through the afternoon!

There’s a new shade of Essie pink on my nails though thanks to a manicure in the early afternoon and there’s a pile of laundry waiting to be folded because I was stuck on the couch the rest of the day catching up on my shows.

Manzo’d With Children < – Have I told you I work with Albert Manzo?

90 Day Fiance < – Don’t spoil the finale for me! I didn’t watch it yet, just watched the marathon of episodes that were on before it!

Younger < –  Anyone else watching Younger on TV Land? I am obsessed with this show, it’s so good! I am also wondering why I haven’t thought to pretend I am 26 years old until now.

Best thing you ate over the weekend?

Which shows on TV right now are considered “your shows”?

What color is on your nails at the moment?

  1. Looks like such a fun weekend! That baked oatmeal looks incredible. This weekend I went to a tapas restaurant where we all sorts of dishes, but my favorite were their pork belly tacos with watermelon cubes on top. Amazing!

  2. I don’t have any shows. Is that weird? Ive never been a TV person. Sometimes Rob will find us something to watch on Netflix but we don’t even have that right now. Chocolate molten cake should always have the gooey chocolate in the middle! I got a gel mani last week thats a brownish red, which has been my go-to color this fall.

  3. Younger is one of the only shows I’m watching now (online, we don’t have cable in our apartment) since so many of “my shows” went off the air the past few years! What gets to me most though isn’t the main character pretending to be 26, it’s the fact that Lizzie McGuire is really like 30 now 😉

    1. I love this show! it’s so real and accurate for us too since we live here. I love seeing Hilary duff! I think she looks the same too, it’s almost weird in a way that her face seems so lizzie Maguire. she is great in this show, don’t you think?

  4. Ahhh I don’t watch TV, and I don’t paint my nails, and I’m embarrassed to tell you the best thing I ate over the weekend: chicken wings. But if we go back to Friday during the day, I ate the best chocolate mousse cake ever with raspberry drizzle and whipped cream. YUMMO.

    1. you know, I didn’t watch much tv other than the news and hockey for a while but I am hooked on these shows right now! and that chocolate cake sounds delish but without the sauce – did you know I don’t like raspberry sauce type things on my chocolate? I know, I am weird

  5. It looks like you had a really eventful weekend; I’m particularly eyeing that impressive candy display and the cake. 🙂

And you look beautiful in your black dress.

  6. That antipasta platter looks amazing. I want to come to New York just so I can eat it all, well except the meat portion, but I’ll take all the olives, the artichokes and of course the cheese.

I watch Manzoed with Children. That’s pretty cool your work with Albert.

Chocolate cake without the middle molten layer is a cruel joke.

Onion rings, on the other hand, are everything.

  7. I made a giant almond butter chocolate chip cookie over the weekend and giant cookies just about always win for best thing I can eat 🙂
I finally painted my nails! OPI You Don’t Know Jacques. I’m a sucker for cute names and it’s a nice, flattering greyish color with some purple.
And I’m going to agree with Meghan about that lava cake. If I’m expecting a gooey middle, don’t let me down.

  8. So cool you work with Albert Manzo … I have such a crush on the older son, Albie.

Shows of now – Married At First Sight … And I cannot wait for Married by Mom and Dad to start again (Sunday, November 27th!)

I went into Sur La Table to buy some new bakeware on Saturday and they were sampling their pumpkin bread … It’s so delicious and so much better when they make it. I may have grabbed a few extra samples on my way out 🙂

  9. I actually painted my nails black for the first time in ages, and I’m really liking it. I can definitely see myself getting stuck on darker colours through the colder months. And that candy table is everything – I love the mix of chocolate and fruity.
