Tuesday evening, out of nowhere, I came down with a quick moving virus that kept me up most of the night with the whole body aching, upset stomach, low fever thing which every time triggers my dizzy, fainting self. While I am rarely dramatic, in those moments of dizziness that send me crawling to the bathroom and laying on the floor to prevent fainting/hurting myself makes me think I am about to die.
Seriously.
The feeling right before you faint, becoming completely incoherent, fuzzy and in a deep sweat especially while being sick is a near death experience which I am happy to have survived.
I felt better yesterday morning but better is a relative term here. It takes time to recover from these things which meant even though I was hungry, I couldn’t eat normal and even if I wanted to run (I didn’t want to but go with it) I wasn’t about to do so. I know my limits.
I feel myself this morning and I may attempt a light workout knowing very well that even with all of the Gatorade and water I was drinking yesterday, it’s not enough to hydrate me to run very much and my muscles will probably feel like jelly anyway.
In other random news…
I have yet to have a properly ripe, sweet and juicy peach this summer and that’s just not acceptable. I bought a few and they weren’t good so now I am afraid of buying more in fear of biting into a bland bleh peach again.
While on the topic of fruit, last week I admitted to you that I go to The Fresh Market for free fresh fruit samples. This week there were chocolate samples too.
So I have clothes in my closet that used to be my favorite pieces, like the kind you look forward to wearing when you feel like getting dolled up yet without warning, those same outfits have become my lounge around, who cares clothes. From one summer season to the next, how does that happen?
My bestest friend Heather is coming up from Florida next week and I am more than a little excited. We met at day camp when we were 9. I liked her outfit and told her so. The rest is history.
I still haven’t bought a spiralizer but I think about buying it every day. Why haven’t I bought it yet? I think because it means then I will have to get a zucchini and I want an organic zucchini which I can’t get at just any grocery store and I really don’t need to add another thing to the grocery list I leave at home.
I finally bought a pair of lululemon underwear. I am not sure why they gave them such an interesting name (Mula Bandhawear) nor do I know what took me so long to realize I needed sweat-wicking undergarments. I mean, everything else on me is sweat-wicking so shouldn’t the material closest to my body be sweat-wicking too?
There’s lots of new stuff at lululemon, in case you were wondering. I haven’t bought anything because I really don’t need anything right now. Of course I want it all but I am smarter than that – I only wear my running clothes for running which happens at the crack of dawn and then comes right off as soon as I get in the house. I don’t really care if I match or repeat the same clothing often because the only people who see me are the dog walkers and I don’t say hello to them anyway.
And with that attitude, I am off to the city this morning for a meeting. I fit in perfectly.
Be sure to check out what everyone else is thinking about today 🙂

***************************************
When was the last time you had a virus?
Do you wear sweat-wicking underwear when you run? Which brand?
Are you prone to fainting?
I’m the same with lulu right now – want everything but forcing myself to buy nothing because I don’t need it. It’s taken me years to realize they always come out with new stuff and I always want it anyway 🙂 plus the dog walker thing is true for me as well 😉
Glad you’re feeling better today!
Haha the dog walking people must hate us!
I’m afraid to see how much lululemon underwear costs! But I feel like something like that would be a good investment. Or that is just what I would tell myself to rationalize spending too much money on underwear and I’d probably end up buying other stuff too:)
Viruses like that are the worst! Hope you are back to feeling 100% soon!
I actually bought this pair of underwear on sale. I didn’t care what color they were and got them for $9 instead of $16 (or maybe it’s $18). Thanks for reminding me they were on sale – my virus brain forgot lol
The fainting feeling is up there with feeling nauseous as being things that I reallllly dislike. I’m glad you recovered, but that is really weird.
What’s weird, the virus? I think it was either something I ate (but we won’t really know) or just a summer virus. I rarely get sick but these types of quick viruses are the one thing I actually catch. So not fun!
My Fresh Market does not have chocolate samples. 😦 They rarely have any samples at all.
I’ve only fainted a couple of times – definitely not fun. Very dramatic the first time & my husband thought I was dying.
Feel better!
I feel like I am dying every time I have fainted/every time I am about to faint. It’s awful! That’s too bad that your fresh market doesn’t do samples. I wonder why.
I get sick like that where I feel dizzy, like I am going to faint(have passed out a few times), nauseous beyond words and lay on the bathroom floor in a puddle of sweat. Can’t explain it unless you’ve experienced. It hellish. The next day leaves you weakened and achy and just happy for it to be behind you. It’s usually for me a sinus headache and humidity, food that didn’t agree with me, over full stomach, not really sure, but sure hope today is a better day for you. Take it easy on yourself and hydrate.
Thanks, it’s so awful to feel sick but luckily it moves fast and I wasn’t nauseous – those types of stomach viruses are soooooo much worse. I was grateful to not have that!
Oh my gosh I had that same sort of illness earlier this week! I just got back from my trip at Penn State and had to stay home for two days from work. It sucked! Hope you’re feeling better! I tried a pair of exercise undies from Fabletics and they are fantastic. I was going to try lulu but these were much cheaper and I’m in love!
Ugh, I hope you are feeling better! These viruses do move fast but ugh, they are not fun! I almost wonder if it was something I ate but I do know it’s been going around a bit too so who really knows.
“Underwear” is “built into” and made of the same wicking material as the running shorts I wear so no need for addition/seperate “undies”. 🙂
Summer viruses have been rare for me.
I’m the absolute worst at buying the appropriate undergarments for running. I can’t tell you the last time I bought a new sports bra (ugh) and I’m all about the VS underwear 5/$25. Maybe I should invest in some quality pieces some day… haha.
I hear you on fainting… it’s super scary. I have orthostatic hypotension so after sitting for long periods of time, if I stand too quickly I will usually lose vision, get nauseous and pass out because my blood pressure drops so severely. It is not fun. Glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better – hope you have a fabulous day!
I am all about VS underwear too! Love them. I could use a new sports bra too but I slack on that because it’s not crazy important for me to have a great one. I also wear a lot of the lulu tanks that have the built in since it’s enough support for me. I have something they called neurological syncope (I think that was it) and low blood pressure so I can basically faint at any time if the conditions are right (dehydrated, sitting too long, sitting in wrong position, stomach ache, alcohol, not feeling well, fever etc.) it’s so awful!
Oh man. That sounds all sorts of horrible. I’m the worst when I get sick, especially with random stuff like that because I start panicking about what could be wrong with me, so it’s probably a good thing that I can’t remember the lat time I came down with anything. Glad you’re feeling better!
I almost wonder if it was something I ate but I guess we won’t know. No one caught it from me so it’s possible I guess that it was food. Who knows.
Glad you’re feeling a lot better today but hopefully you’re back to 100% tomorrow! Being sick is the worst. It doesn’t happen to me often but when it does, it’s not fun. As for lululemon, I need (okay want) to go back there this weekend. I need (want) some of their sports bras which I’ve heard amazing things about. Not sure they’re worth the $50 price tag, but I’m sure I’ll walk out with something I just have to have. I don’t even like shopping, but lululemon sucks you in.
And see I am really good about not buying anything at lulu, I don’t know, I just don’t feel the need even though I like the stuff. I can’t see spending the money when I hardly wear it unless I am running. I do want a few new things for fall so I will have to take a better look and make decisions on what I want. I saw some nice things last week.
I know some people that have come down with weird viruses like that lately. Glad you’re feeling better. Ugh, sadly I’ve almost fainted many times, and it’s the WORST feeling. I have a few pairs of the Under Armour underwear which is stretchy, wicking, and super comfortable. I don’t like going commando so it’s nice to have some athletic undies especially in the summer when I’m drenched after each run!
Yes! The summer is the worst for super sweaty which is why I finally bought the underwear. Definitely need more pairs, I will try Under Armour now too, thanks!
Like Lauren ^ I have some rundies from Under Armor that I love! They are sweat wicking and have been a great investment. Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks! Maybe I will try Under Armour too if I can get them at a better price than Lulu.
As for the peaches – can’t recommend the ones at any regular grocery stores, but if you’ll get through them within a week or so the Costco ones have been good, as have farmers’ markets in CT – I guess the ends of the spectrum!
I gotta find a good peach already! I guess if I get the giant amount from Costco I can bake with them to use them all.
Ok. I’m dying laughing at this post. No offense. But I can relate to so much here.
I think my hubby has found me wrapped around the toilet, passed out, 3 times now? Or maybe 4? I don’t know…all the fainting spells just run together at this age haha. Fainting to me, is like, second nature.
We love going to Costco for samples…and Trader Joe’s for wine samples…Fresh Market must have heard about your love of chocolate. 😉
I JUST added a spiralizer to my Amazon shopping cart yesterday and am doing some research b/w 2 of them before I order one…I have 3 HUUUUUGE zucchinis fresh from a friends garden, so can’t wait to try some other recipes!
I was ALSO just wondering about moisture wicking underwear the other day too, and wondered if I should have those, if they even make them. Of COURSE they make them though, duh! I’m such a sweater, that I probably NEED some…I mean, maybe just 1 or 2 pairs, because I totally wear my clothes twice sometimes if I didn’t sweat a lot…or just depending on what and where the next workout is going to be! LOL
I hate fainting, worst feeling in the world! Let me know how you like you spiralizer when you get it.
I am prone to fainting too, and I agree, it is one of the worst feelings. Add to that your upset stomach and low grade fever- well, all I can say is I am so sorry! That must have been horrible!! I hope you are feeling so much better.
I have honestly never thought about buying sweat-wicking underwear bore, but I don’t why!bnow I need to investigate this…
I recommend the sweat-wicking underwear, I neglected it too but it’s definitely more comfortable, especially in the summer.
Hope you are feeling better buddy! And that’s great about getting chocolate samples. Next week you’ll be posting live from there saying it’s your new home.
Haha – only if there are peanut butter samples next time.
YEAH-Can’t wait to see you! I still haven’t tried my lulu underwear-totally forgot I bought them lol but jealous you got yours on sale!
You taught me to shop the sale bins! I dug through and found a pair. I need to find one more pair on sale!
Might I just say (I’m a new reader) that I love your style of writing. I honestly laughed at least 5 times reading this post! Whether you intended to or not, you are super funny and made my day 🙂 glad you are feeling better because that virus sounds nasty!
I am hopeless when it comes to Lululemon. I will jump at the opportunity to buy a new pair of 80$ leggings but can’t seem to bring myself to get a pair of 18$ underwear that I actually need!!
Aw, thank you 🙂 So glad you are here and enjoying my posts! I here you on the prices at lulu – I actually got this pair of underwear on the sale so I think they were $9 which wasn’t so bad! I didn’t care what color they were so it was great. I may try to find more in the sale bin/look at some of the other brands other commenters mentioned.
I hope you feel better! Being sick is not fun!
I loooove my lululemon workout pants. I have one pair that I only wear working out and then I have one pair that I actually mostly just use for around the house 😉 That probably sounds crazy but they’re just SO comfortable!
I passed out after having the flu and another time when I had a kidney stone (thought I was going to die). Both times sucked. So glad you’re feeling better. I think I need to head on over to Fresh Market now to see if they are giving out chocolate samples today 🙂
