If you knew about the new Trident Layers Swedish Fish gum and didn’t tell me, I am re-evaluating our friendship.
Is there some sort of candy competition taking place in the gum industry lately?
They need to come out with Reeses Peanut Butter Cup gum next. Or Three Muskateers. Or Snickers. Like, someone needs to inform the brands to skip the candy flavors and hit up the chocolate department already.
I didn’t buy the new gum yet, I am waiting for you to tell me it’s good.
Anyway, let’s take a look at what I ate on Sunday!
Breakfast:
Pre-run usual…
Post-run typical…
Last week’s birthday delivery from Love Grown Foods made me so happy especially because I now have a fresh bag of my favorite oatmeal. Have you tried the Super Oats Chia & Quinoa? It’s the best! I love the plain variety but they do offer some flavors too.
In the mix above – cooked oatmeal served cold mixed with berries, Skoop B-Strong and peanut butter.
Before I forget — Skoop is launching new products in August (so excited!)and changing some current packaging so for the rest of the month of June, they are offering 20% off B-Strong, A-Game and B-Lovely. Use code BAG20 at checkout.
Such a great deal, you know I love my Skoop B-Strong!
Lunch:
As I mentioned on Monday, my friend Lisa always makes the best parties.
Even when she tells you she isn’t going to stress things or go all out, you know you can count on really good veggie platters (the hummus was so good, I have to ask her which kind it was) and chopped up salads along with the usual party foods (read: pizza).
I had a few plates that looked like this. Her salads are always so delicious!
My son only eats salad at her house and then yells at me that I can’t make salads like Lisa does, even though I follow her ingredients and instructions exactly as directed.
There’s just something she does to the food I guess that makes it special. I don’t know why this is but I have asked her to put together some basic salad recipes for us and she is excited to share!
I somehow missed a picture of the cake but I was first in line for the fruit.
I sort of took home a ton of the candy available at the candy buffet.
I made sure there was plenty left for the kids so it’s all good.
My son and I headed home quickly after the party to get ready to meet my parents for dinner at Cirella’s.
I love Cirella’s not only for their dessert but for their diverse menu. You can go Italian or completely satisfy your sushi cravings…or do a little bit of both.
We had a spicy tuna avocado roll (with brown rice) as an appetizer before our main course.
Is it weird that I spent time trying to teach my son how to properly eat edamame so that he is in the know?
For my main course, I ordered the pasta primavera with zucchini noodles in place of pasta.
It was more like zucchini ribbons than thin spaghetti strands but still just as delicious! I really need a spiralizer.
Dessert:
You already saw my birthday weekend dessert finale on Monday but it is so worth sharing again.
Gigantic sundaes loaded with ice cream, fresh chocolate chip cookies and fudge brownies are a real good time, especially when they are served in a giant martini glass.
I actually used to have this very same martini glass on my counter only it was filled with m&m’s.
We had put it away when my son was little because he not only went for everything crystal and breakable as a toddler, he was too little to be around small things like m&m’s but now that he is 11, I think it’s safe to take it out again. If I could find it, that is.
So this sundae by the way…
We need to start making things like this at home. Simple enough, right? Load up a giant glass with ice cream or frozen yogurt, bake up some cookies and brownies and add our toppings.
Party in a glass for sure!
Be sure to check out what everyone else is eating today 🙂

Are you a gum chewer? Favorite gum?
Favorite candy bar when you were a kid?
What’s for breakfast today?
Now that’s a day filled with a lot of good eating! That icecream sundae looks amazing!!
That is my type of party (start to finish). Seriously, that is basically my perfect day of eating! My favorite candy bar as a kid… probably milky way. That is what I got the most. My brother was a Snickers fan, no question.
I liked Musketeers…and still do.
I definitely would have told you about that gum, but we’re usually late to the party up here, so I doubt I’ll be seeing it on shelves for another year… if ever 😛 And I’d have to go with Twix as my favourite candy bar as a kid… until they slapped an allergy warning label on it 😦
I liked twix too but much preferred the basic musketeers bar back in the day. And m&m’s.
How awesome that you had zucchini noodles! I haven’t spiralized anything in so long it might just be time. And I’m way impressed by your friend’s party! I’ll have to crash next time 🙂
I know Lisa would say you should come and bring the kids! So yes, next time, you come!
They make Swedish Fish GUM?! I am sadly a gum fiend especially when studying all the time like now…I need to find some of that!
Oh, and sushi + ice cream = a favorite evening meal plan for me too 🙂
So many good eats!! I am totally obsessed with that sundae to! I am not a huge gum chewer, I usually get bored after like 10 seconds and throw the gum out. Favorite candy bar was PayDay when I was little, now it’s definitely snickers. I need more chocolate 🙂 Breakfast today I had a smoothie with some almond butter and granola on top! Hope you have a fabulous Wednesday !!
Everything looks so good! I love any kind of brownie sundae. Im not really into gum anymore but I used to be…the problem was it would lose its flavor so I would add a second or third piece and then get a stomach ache from all the fake sugar. I still carry it in case I need to freshen my breath but its no longer a habit to chew it.
I am definitely with you – too much gives me a stomach ache. Some weeks I chew more than others although I really try to limit it.
That’s hilarious that your son only eats salads over there. Kids are funny. I think peanut butter cup gum would be SO GROSS but you can bet I’d buy a pack to try! I’m always making desserts over here. My step kids never had desserts after their meals until they lived with me and I think it’s definitely helped me in the likeability department. Ha!
I can totally see how serving dessert helped! I may try that tactic 😉
I swear there is a new candy flavored gum coming out every week! I’d love to try that flavor! Right now I am still obsessed with the Starbursts flavors.
I liked the Starburst Strawberry but haven’t bought it in a while. I can’t always find it.
Not even joking, can we meet up at Cirellas- For the first time in my life, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a zucchini style pasta recipe which actually looked appealing.
For sure! You are more than welcome to join me out here –there’s a Cirellas’ at one of the malls too 🙂 Otherwise there are a few places I know of with great “zoodles”
I still can’t get over how amazing that sundae looks – you always have the best desserts on your blog!
Aw thank you 🙂 You know I love my dessert!
I did not know it to be possible for another human being to eat all of my favorite foods… in one day! From overnight oats to fancy looking salads, fruitily arranged fruit platters to zoodles to salmond avocado sushi (!!!!!!) to ice cream… I mean can I be you ;)? Jealousy aside, I am hopelessly in love with ice creakers cube gums. I think it has to do with the cube shape, I like to pretend I am a horse who is being fed sugar cubes. I am also aware that this is not normal. Favorite candy as a kid would have to be tootsie rolls and sour punch straws, food coloring and sugar where necessities for my candies!
Ha- so glad you can relate to my favorite foods 🙂
I’m definitely a gum chewer and I love Trident Layers but I’ve never seen this flavor. My favorites are Trident Tropical Twist and Strawberry Watermelon. Wow, a restaurant with Italian AND sushi! Sounds like a dream come true!
I kinda liked the Trident Jelly Bean but my son thought it smelled funny.
Wowie, that dessert bonanza looks absolutely fantastic. 🙂 And that gum. I haven’t heard about it, but I’m glad you let the blog readers know about it. My sister would absolutely love that. She’s partial to swedish fish. 🙂
Let me know if you try it, I am wondering if it’s good! I will need to pick it up the next time I see it.
I feel so bad not wishing you a happy birthday, but in my defense I just didn’t know! So… HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING!! It looks like you had one heck of a birthday dinner/dessert.
I’m looking forward to the salad recipe post I’m just crossing my fingers if I try to make one of Lisa’s recipe it turns out delicious. Ha
Aw thank you, don’t even worry about it though! 🙂 I can’t wait for Lisa to share her recipes/photos with us, it’s definitely on the list to come soon!
That is so freaking awesome that you can get zucchini noodles in a restaurant!!! I wish there was a place around me that offered that.
