I Won The Battle Of The Treadmill

My level of dedication is on par with the postal service.

No amount of snow, not even a negative reading on the thermometer can keep me from my long run. Even if it means the long run will occur indoors on a treadmill.

Saying I put on layers just to walk my way into the gym is an understatement. But hey, whatever keeps you warm.

Can we just admire my boots again for a minute before getting to my run? Aren’t they pretty? Thanks, I think so too.

So. I started mentally preparing for this morning’s long run on the treadmill a few days ago. I knew that the blizzard was going to cause some serious white stuff to take over my path and the thermometer dipping below zero is really too cold even for me to run outside – snow or no snow.

Between me and you, my treadmill run wasn’t half bad. I was ready. More than ready.

The positive side to the treadmill is that you are totally in control of making yourself move faster.

And, the faster you go, the faster the miles happen. 12 miles in just about 1:38, I will take it. Thank you very much.

Waiting for me when I arrived home was my most favorite steel-cut oats mixed with plain greek yogurt, berries and peanut butter piled into an almost empty peanut butter jar.

I have yet to leave my neighborhood since the snowstorm hit but I have every intention of being out and about shortly. Errands to run, Red Mango to eat…you know, the usual.

Before I go, today seems to be the day for birthdays:

Happy Birthday to my cousin Amy!

You may remember her as the cousin I convinced at the last-minute to run the Long Island Half Marathon instead of the 10k she originally registered for.

Happy Birthday Amanda who blogs over at Running With Spoons!

Happy Birthday D who blogs over at The Kosher Cave Girl!

With so many birthdays today, it would just be wrong of me not to have cake after my sushi tonight. Don’t you agree?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hi! I'm Meredith. Join me while I run and cook my way through single motherhood. It is always an adventure trying to teach my 12 year old son the benefits of an active lifestyle combined with healthy eating while of course, still leaving room for dessert.
