Fascinating Things Friday

Good morning!  Welcome to Friday.

I am quite excited that it is the weekend even if this heat wave is still going strong.

I have had just about enough of the oppressive heat, I swear it is hotter here than in Florida.

As hot as it is though,  I am truly enjoying waking up to sunshine and heading out early for a good run.

I have been slightly fascinated with my runs lately. I don’t know why but I am suddenly averaging over 30 miles a week and, aside from massive hunger at times, feeling great.

irrestistable

I can’t quite pinpoint what happened exactly that has put me well over the 30 mile mark but I will happily take it.

In addition to great runs, there are some other things in my little world that are currently fascinating me as well.

Asic’s Gel Nimbus 15’s:

I know that I must choose my sneakers based upon fit not appearance but since I can openly discuss and confirm my love for my Gel Nimbus 15’s, it is now safe to explore the other color options.

I did not learn of these other color options until recently.

The above pair is pretty, yes? They even glow in the dark. Not just to satisfy the child in me, but to act as a reflective defense in case you are running in the dark.

I could probably use these for the walk to Fire Island.

This pair is nice too. I think I will watch the price and pick a second pair when they go on sale.

Clinique: This Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer which I mentioned a few months ago during my switch to paraben-free products is absolutely fantastic.

As a recovering Dior Addict, I am so beyond shocked and impressed with Clinique that I cannot imagine ever switching my cosmetics back to another brand.

This tinted moisturizer offers lightweight coverage that is comparable to using a lightweight foundation. It evens out your complexion with only a dab of product, provides sunscreen, moisture and overall skin glow.

Not to mention, it is truly hypoallergenic, paraben-free and priced so well (at least compared to Dior).

May I add that I even love their mascara?

For years I swore by Dior’s Iconic and guess what –  Clinique’s High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara seems better to me.

And cheaper. And completely non-irritating.

Remember when I received this Super Seeds Oatmeal style cereal from my Bestowed Box?

I made a nice big bowl of it the other morning (mixed with Old Fashion Rolled Oats and extra blueberries) and let me tell you, between the aroma and the taste I am hooked once again.

I have a feeling I will be using this cereal in a banana bread or cookie recipe real soon.

And finally, I will be forever fascinated by the Target school supplies display that goes up in full force the day after July 4th.

Talk about rushing the seasons.

I relate to this. Meredith was the hardest name to locate on a key chain, notepad, pencil and/or magnet.

It really wasn’t fair.

It affected me so much that when I chose my son’s name, I made sure it was a name that could be located on personalized products.

To this day, if I spot my name on something, I sometimes buy it just because I can.

I NEED TO KNOW:

Was your name impossible to find on a key chain?

How many miles have you been averaging lately? More or less than normal?

What are you doing this weekend?

What makeup brand do you swear by?

Do you use tinted moisturizer or foundation?

Hi! I'm Meredith. Join me while I run and cook my way through single motherhood. It is always an adventure trying to teach my 12 year old son the benefits of an active lifestyle combined with healthy eating while of course, still leaving room for dessert.

  1. The keychain thing really bothers me too. Even if the product did have an option with my name, it was always spelled “Leslie.” There was one time I saw something with “Leslee” on it and it still bothers me that I didn’t buy it!

    1. I thought of you while I was running today deciding that for sure you had the same problem as me with the keychain! lol – Sometimes I would randomly find a Meredith item and it would be spelling MERIDITH! Terrible. Just terrible.

  2. OMG! I can totally relate to that keychain thing. No one ever had Dee. There was only this one place that had it, a rest stop in South Jersey in the gift shop.

Your post was very fascinating today.

  3. Haha the keychain thing. My only problem was everyone always insisted on spelling it without the “H”. Lame. I also wear Clinique almost everything…I just love their products! I wore Mac a lot way back when, and for my wedding, but Mac gets a bit pricey 🙂

  4. That’s awesome that you’re averaging more than usual with your mileage! I wish I could say the same… Instead I’m just messing around doing whatever I want and not paying attention. Probably not conducive for marathon training, huh? I’m leaving for a cruise this weekend!!! 🙂 Have a fab weekend… Also, my name… MegHan << that H made it impossible to find personalized things…. If only that silent a$$hole wasn't there I would have a plethora of personalized stuff!

  5. Great job on your mileage! And feeling great after, too! I’m averaging way more than I was since Meghan and I are training for a half in August. I guess I average about 12-15 right now (not a runner). My parents named me Rebecca, which is easy to find, but I changed it to Rebekah, which is not impossible to find, but almost. I like both tinted moisturizer and powder. I don’t use foundation anymore. It’s too thick. I wish I had enough money to buy a good brand of make up, but instead I buy cover girl or whatever they have on sale at CVS 🙂

    1. I almost added to this post that I wish my name was Rebecca. All my life I have told people to call me Rebecca and for a whole in high school I decided it should be wit a KAH!

      1. Hahaha that is so awesome!!! I don’t hate my name but I don’t love it either. It’s just not as common as a lot of names so for a while I thought it was weird. Plus, everyone called me Rachel. They still do. So annoying. Yep, I decided in second grade I wanted it with a kah instead. 🙂
