Weekends go too fast. Especially summer weekends filled with sushi. And sunshine.
The weather this weekend was amazing. Not a cloud in the sky.
THE WEEKEND RUNS:
SATURDAY: I got up early to run 11 miles before the sun was too strong.
My feet are getting quite comfortable with the Asics Gel Nimbus 15’s and I am hoping this is the start of a beautiful relationship.
Sunday: I don’t normally run again the day after a long run but I woke up feeling fabulous so I ran 5 miles.
I don’t quite understand it since normally I feel something in my legs – sore, tired, heavy….something. But I felt great.
My legs are still feeling pretty loose so maybe I will check out those new treadmills that offer declining hills this morning at Lifetime.
THE FOOD:
I was a very lucky girl this weekend because I had sushi not just once, but twice.
We went back again this week to our new favorite sushi place, Kumo.
Do I need to apologize for once again having too good of a time to think about my camera?
Kumo was NEVER even close to being at the top of my sushi list. It is just a local place, nothing fancy but suddenly so good that it stands out above the rest.
I also went to Kashi, which was always my favorite. As pictured above, Kashi is flashy and fun with great sushi.
I love ginger dressing but always get it on the side so I can control how drenched I want the salad.
Kashi keeps it pretty dark so the pictures I took didn’t come out great. We ordered a bunch of rolls including the one above (picture from Kashi’s website).
As great as Kashi’s sushi is, and as fun and flashy as the atmosphere can be, I am still choosing Kumo as the new number one on my list.
You know I always redeem myself when it comes to dessert pictures.
You didn’t really think I would get some dinky cup of ice cream did you?
It is all about the waffle cone. Chocolate dipped. With sprinkles. Topped with whipped cream. And hot fudge.
Yeah, there is some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream in there too.
THE FUN:
In addition to my fun ice cream cone, I spent Sunday at the beach.
The color on my toes is Essie’s new Boom Boom Boom. Love it. You must get it.
It was my first time down to Long Beach this summer. It is beyond bizarre to be there without the boardwalk.
They are still in the process of rebuilding the boardwalk that was destroyed from Hurricane Sandy in the fall.
It was very strange and eerie to be in Long Beach without the boardwalk and I can’t wait until the construction is completed. It just doesn’t seem right to be there without seeing runners, walkers, bikers and vendors along the strip.
It was still packed which was perfect for people watching.
And if my weekend doesn’t already sound fun enough, check out my latest purchase:
When I spotted this new Le Sport Sac pattern when shopping on Saturday, there was no way I was leaving without buying it.
It is the Finders Keepers pattern and has all of my favorite things including cupcakes, ice cream cones, popsicles, cherries, green apples, cakes, donuts….and sunshine.
Bonus: I got it at Bloomingdales and it was 15% off.
It even has the right sized phone pocket and plenty of inside compartments.
It is so functional that I can use it as everyday bag, beach/pool bag, gym bag, overnight bag…how could I not get it?

I need to know:
How was your weekend?
Do you have a favorite Ben and Jerry’s flavor?
What do you choose – cup or cone?
Waffle cone ALL the way! I also am sometimes tempted by the pretzel cones…but I’m a waffle cone girl, tried and true. I’m headed down the shore this upcoming weekend. Can’t wait to sink my toes in the sand. Boom Boom Room is a very cute color 🙂
Once again I am having sushi envy. I am also having beach envy this time too 😉
Waffle cones are the absolute best!!! It has been far too long since I have eaten one :(.
What a great weekend you had! YAY for two excellent runs this weekend! Go checkout those declining treadmills and share share share! 🙂 🙂 SUSHI! Now I want some! I was going to go to sushi this weekend but I just didn’t want to. Now I regret that! Those are wonderful pictures of the beach! What a great weekend! And I had ice cream out of a cone this weekend. It’s rare, but a huge treat!
I love sushi and ice cream- that is pretty much the best combo EVER! Long Beach is so much fun- I live not too far from LB and I love going there to run and hang out around down town 🙂
I think we are in two different LB’s – I am in New York. I love California though!
Yum!! Waffle cone with sprinkles!
