There are no words to express my feelings on the tragic events that occurred at the finish line of the Boston Marathon yesterday.
As I sit here typing this post with one hand, I don’t even know what to say.
When I first heard the terrible, shocking news yesterday afternoon, my thought process went as follows:
“OMG I hope Sarah (from the blog, Skinny Runner) is OK.”
“OMG I can’t believe Kristin (from the blog, Stuft Mama) was supposed to be there with her husband and two little boys. Thank goodness for her injury that kept her safe in California.”
“OMG I feel so guilty for walking around complaining about not being able to use my left arm. Who am I to complain, I am lucky to still have my arm.”
“OMG how am I going to explain another horrific event to my little boy when he gets off the bus today from school.”
Having to explain the unexplainable to our children is not an easy thing to do. Not only do you need to come up with the words, you need to sound like you are really fine, calm, cool and collected. You need to sound believable when you say, “Don’t worry.”
Our kids are too young to deal with this. Actually, I think we all are.
I have heard among the blog world that runners are uniting today for Boston.
Join Run Junkees on facebook or visit the Run Junkees website to learn more this virtual run event.
In addition to running (or walking) today in honor of Boston, I am also hearing that we are all encouraged to wear a race shirt, the colors of the Boston Marathon (blue and yellow) or even the color purple (just saw this about the color purple).
I will have my race shirt on as I run this morning.
And I will be letting my son choose a race shirt to wear to school.
I would love to find strength in my arm today to be able to bake blue and yellow M&M cookies or even blue and yellow cupcakes to bring to my son’s Little League game tonight.
Maybe Crumbs or another bakery will be creating something sweet to help us all unite.
absolutely devastating. there are no words…
