I think some people relax on Sunday. Is that true? I wouldn’t know from it.
I swear I feel like I am always running somewhere, doing something, folding something, cleaning something, cooking something or searching for something.
And Sunday morning is no different.
Before I head off to Lifetime Fitness for a workout and a day full of running around with the boy, I am very busy searching.
Searching coupons that is. You know how I have a love/hate relationship with the coupon section in my Sunday paper.
Today however, I am focused on locating a coupon for a tooth brush.
Why a toothbrush?
I took my son to the Orthodontist Friday for a regularly scheduled checkup and braces inspection.
I don’t normally bother to look at his chart as it is often filled with dental jargon; I did however quickly glance and notice the following:
“FEBRUARY 22, 2012 POOR COOPERATION”
Seriously? I looked at him quickly and mouthed, WHAT DID YOU DO IN THERE?
The Orthodontist came out to the reception desk to inform me (or really to reprimand me) on the following:
- He isn’t brushing his teeth well enough around the braces.
- He doesn’t wear his night brace enough (come on, we all know we had a night brace and never wore it).
- He was unprepared for his appointment by not bringing the night brace (aka head gear if you speak in dental jargon) with him.
Every time I think of the night brace, I think of the movie Sixteen Candles and the nerdy girl who had to wear it to school.
My overall thoughts while we were getting in trouble:
How about some positive reinforcement? How about praising us for listening to the rules of no gum chewing, no gummies, no hard candies or soft candies or any foods that are on the “DO NOT EAT WITH BRACES” list? Geez, it is clear we follow some form of direction since his wires and brackets are never broken.
Instead we were both in trouble for what we “haven’t” done.
I always ensure he is brushing twice a day (in addition to ensuring he showers, goes to school and does his homework). Now it is a question of quality, not quantity?
I informed the Orthodontist that we do the best we can but will try harder.
My idea of trying harder is locating some type of magical toothbrush that will get the job done correctly for us.
I think I am feeling inspired by my magical Lulu Lemon $14 socks that absorb water like Bounty paper towels. If you missed yesterday’s post about the socks, click here.
On a positive note, today’s coupon insert does feature some decent, Cookie ChRUNicle approved healthy, nutrient dense food coupons!
If you do not receive the Sunday newspaper, you can visit www.smartsource.com for printable versions of these coupons.
I know I provided you last week with my favorite list of coupon websites. In addition to those websites, did you know that many grocery stores offer coupons via apps available on our smart phones?
Target offers great coupons this way. Try doing a search in the app store for your favorite grocery stores!
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend and has a chance to slow down!
