You know you are having a long, cold winter when 36 degrees feels like summer.
The forecast had called for rain, sleet and/or snow for this morning (funny how the meteorologists all team up and say rain/sleet/snow just to cover the fact that they really don’t know anything for sure).
Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I woke up to no rain, no sleet, no snow….36 degrees…and no wind!
I layered myself up just in case.
That would be 4 layers – Lulu Lemon tank top, Gap Athletic Long Sleeve Top and a Gap Athletic zip-up jacket top with hood. The pink sweatshirt you see in the picture I threw on top just in case at the last minute. .
Do you like my hat? I always try to add something cute and different to my work out ensembles. When I am indoors, I wear headbands like this:
I love any opportunity to wear cute accessories and in a sea full of Lulu Lemon wearers, one must stand out and be an individual, don’t you think?
That black thing that is covering my mouth and makes me look like a bank robber (according to my son) is a Lulu Lemon tube-type scarf.
I
It slips right over your head and can pull up to cover your mouth when it is necessary. I wear it but can’t say that it is a must-have item.
Speaking of must-have items, I recently purchased a pair of $14 Lulu Lemon socks. I have worn them a few times and while I liked them the first few times, I was unsure if they were worth the $14.
During my run today, I was so completely happy to be outside and not on the treadmill that I felt like the miles and minutes were just flying by.
Ain’t that the truth?
Anyway, as I was saying, my run was going oh so well, I felt great and was so happy to be getting into that groove where you get lost in thought which never happens on the treadmill……until I was snapped back into reality as my left foot landed deep into a puddle from melting snow.
I was 6 miles into my run with no intention of stopping to change my shoes and socks. I quickly decided I had no choice but to tough it out even if my foot was soaking wet (and cold!).
I then remembered I was wearing $14 socks which must have magical powers to cost so much, yes?
I remembered one of the features was a sweat-wicking capability and I hoped that the sock could be tricked into thinking the water that now flooded my sneaker was sweat.
Let me just say – within 20-30 seconds, my foot was completely dry. I was shocked. Perhaps Lulu teamed up with Bounty, the “Quicker Picker Upper”?
I mean, Cole-Haan shoes have Nike Air soles so I guess anything is possible. Why not have a sock that absorbs like Bounty paper towel.
These $14 socks now have a very special place in my heart.
I may be a bit of a couponer and bargain hunter, but I absolutely will pay top dollar when top dollar is justified.
Or, at least ask for these expensive, must have socks for Mother’s Day.
Just another sign I am getting old – socks are considered gift-worthy.
Now if you will excuse me, I am going to eat my favorite post-run breakfast.
I am all fancy today. Yogurt store spoon and a ceramic ice cream sundae cup that my son made at the pottery studio.
I love taking him to the pottery studio and I love that he enjoys going with me. I love to paint and always enjoyed (and still do) a good art project.
Painting pottery isn’t cheap but it is better to spend money on something we can have fun making and keep forever than spend it on tokens at Chuck E. Cheese.
Whenever I eat from this cup I realize that one day he will be off at college and I can look at this cup and remember the good times we spent together when he was a kid.
Remind me of this sappy moment when I am ready to jump out of a window trying to get him to do his homework.
Hope you have a great Saturday and are able to get outside for a run!
Love your running enthusiasm! And, of course, the $14 socks ~ seems people always talk about shorts, tank tops, hoodies, etc for running attire, but forget the ever-important sock!! 🙂
If the socks are bad, even the greatest sneakers will feel bad!
Good to know….as I needed new socks and an excuse to go to the lulu store!…if you are a couponer (just in case you don’t know), online under the women’s tab there is a place called “we made too much” for discounted lulu gear…
Yes! Thank you. I often find some good things in the sale section. And most recently, Lulu held the Lulu Yoga Bowl here on Long Island at Nassau Coliseum filled with all sale items. It was insane. I actually got a few good bargains even if I had to battle the crowds.
i’m jealous! Heading to LI to visit my family in a few weeks would have love to have gone:(
Maybe they will have it again next year. It was the weekend of the Superbowl. Maybe they have the event around in different cities throughout the year? I had never heard of it prior to it being here.
$14 socks? they better have magical powers! haha- i hate when you are totally in a groove and something like a puddle happens! Happy Monday!
Certain things are worth spending money on. The puddle made these socks worth it! Totally absorbed the water. I am still shocked.
I love your GYM!!! 😉
It is an amazing facility with so many options and amenities. Is there one near where you live? I hope so! Although i end up spending way too much time there. You can lose a day very easily by being there!
