Three Tip Tuesday!

Rise and Shine..I love being up early to catch up on just about anything I want in silence.

On tap for this morning – my new favorite spin class (cross training!). I still have the cross training bug which amuses me since as we all know I had little interest in working my muscles any other way than running. Which leads us to “Three Tip Tuesday”

The Cookie ChRunicles’ Three Tips for this week:

As runners, we all know that it sounds good to cross train. We may even plan for it. We step outside for a walk. Or we hit the gym for a class. Or we plan to hop on the elliptical machine, ski machine or any other funky looking machine that is not a treadmill. And we change our minds. We rationalize running instead and promise to cross train tomorrow.

Well friends, today I offer you two fabulous tips to guarantee you DO NOT make the last minute decision to run.

1. Wear the pants you swear that you will NEVER wear when you run. We all have them. The ones that you like enough to keep for any activity other than running. The ones that start to slide as you start your stride. The pants that move all over and you have to keep adjusting as you attempt to keep your pace. The pants that as you pull up end up pulling down your undergarments and then you are stuck pulling one up and one down and giving yourself a wedgy while still trying to maintain your pace, sanity and composure as well since now people are looking at you.

I guarantee that if you put those pants on in your attempted quest to cross train, you will stick to your plan. Even as the thought trickles into your mind that perhaps you will run instead, the pants will keep you focused.

How can I be sure? Been there, done that.

2. Wear your back up sneakers. I mean the pair you recently decided were no longer fit for running. I might as well write a book entitled, “Princess and the Sneaker”. One day they are running fab and one day they are finished. They just become, “not right”.

But I keep them. They may have seen there last day running, but as insane as I am when it comes to running comfort, those sneakers are still worthy of a cross train or quick outing to the stores.

I purposely wear those former running shoes on cross training days to prevent that last minute hop on the treadmill.

Am I a genius or what?

Try it out, let me know if it works for you. I can almost promise that it will!

No need to thank me.

And my final fabulous (and random) tip for this Tuesday:

3. Did you know you can reuse K-Cups for the Keurig coffee machine? Neither did I. Until a cashier at Bed Bath Beyond told me she does it all the time.

This was life changing in my world. I ran home (in the right sneakers of course) and tested it out immediately. Life changing! And it filled my mug nicely instead of only half way.

We all know that K-Cup boxes aren’t cheap. I am easily using 1 K-Cup if not 2 K-Cups less a day.  I love saving money, don’t you?

Questions of the morning:

What are some other ways to keep to a cross training plan? Have you had similar experiences with the sliding pants?

What kind of coffee machine do you use?
